Welcome to Wheaton!

I often say that Wheaton has a good thing going, and our business community is a vital part of Wheaton’s formula for success. The businesses in our community offer a wide range of dining, shopping and top-quality services that bring people to Wheaton. Residents and visitors will find the convenience of everything they need, right here in their hometown. I encourage you to explore the local businesses in this guide, as our local stores and multitude of businesses of all sizes make up an important part of our community. Now more than ever, Wheaton is thriving as a destination for services, commerce, restaurants and entertainment.

The City of Wheaton is proud to support local businesses by helping create an environment for them to succeed. In the past two years, we have begun to see the results of our investment in the heart of Wheaton through the $35 million Downtown Streetscape Project. In addition to replacing decades-old infrastructure, the City completed purposeful improvements to make Wheaton a place where people want to gather and explore. This included incorporating the Illinois Prairie Path into the downtown, providing wider sidewalks and adding bicycle facilities in numerous locations. Gathering areas such as the new pavilion at Liberty and Main have provided spaces for community events, entertainment and the popular French Market, helping make Wheaton a true destination throughout our region.

We’re also helping drive a renewed focus on other commercial areas to help spur redevelopment, such as through implementing the Roosevelt Road Corridor Plan. We’re seeing revitalization in several key areas of Wheaton, including residential redevelopment projects that are bringing new housing options to Wheaton.

These investments have yielded dozens of new businesses in several different commercial districts, including downtown Wheaton, Danada Square West, Danada Square East, Rice Lake Square and Town Square Wheaton. In the past year, we have helped welcome new restaurants, specialty retail boutiques, popular national chains and services.

At the same time, we celebrate the longtime pillars of our business community. In fact, Wheaton boasts multiple beloved businesses that have operated here for more than 100 years. Our longtime businesses are cornerstones of the community, contributing to Wheaton’s charm and hometown feel.

For more than 100 years, the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce has served the community of Wheaton. Throughout that time, our goal has remained the same – to deliver value to our members who in turn serve their clients and customers.

The mission of the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce is to:

•  Serve as a catalyst for enriching the quality of life in our community

Members make connections with each other to learn and expand their businesses. We elevate the visibility of members through publications, social media and traditional media. And we provide a platform for our members to grow and succeed.

Make Connections

The Wheaton Chamber hosts monthly luncheons and events that allow our members to connect as well as to learn from speakers who provide relevant programs. As a member-driven organization, we depend on volunteers to guide the Chamber, from our Board of Directors to committee leaders and participants. Our events, both virtual and in-person, allow for networking and relationship-building.

Elevate Our Members’ Visibility

We love to share our members’ stories via our weekly newsletter, “Monday Matters”, through social media and with various campaigns. Our member news, events, member deals, job postings and press releases are profiled on our website.

Provide Access to Business Alliances

Chamber members can access our business alliances like the City of Wheaton, the Downtown Wheaton Association, DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau, Choose DuPage and Innovation DuPage. Wheaton Park District offers myriad opportunities for fun

Proudly serving the community since 1921, the Wheaton Park District is Wheaton’s go-to source for bountiful opportunities for all ages to “Create. Discover. Play.”

From Wide Horizons preschool and pickleball leagues to the Silvertones Chorus, across 54 parks and a variety of other well-maintained facilities — such as the Sensory Garden Playground and the DuPage County Historical Museum — the park district truly offers something for everyone.

In central Wheaton, the park district’s Central Athletic Complex is home to basketball leagues and batting cages, the Western DuPage Special Recreation Association’s Rec & Roll program, two seasonal ice rinks and more. The Community Center, located at 1777 S. Blanchard adjacent to Rice Pool & Water Park, houses a newly renovated Parks Plus Fitness and plays host to many of the park district’s dance and creative arts programs.

Golfers ages 8 and up can hit the links at regionally renowned Arrowhead Golf Club, which offers golf lessons for kids and adults alike. Younger putters can tee off at Clocktower Mini Golf in downtown Wheaton.

Residents and guests of all ages find education, enrichment and entertainment year-round at the park district’s Cosley Zoo, an Association of Zoos and Aquariums-accredited zoo that celebrated 50 years in operation in 2024.

Memorial Park hosts the annual Cream of Wheaton four day festival in addition to a series of concerts each summer attracting more than 13,500 attendees.

“We aim to bring the community together and provide abundant opportunities for recreation, fitness and cultural enrichment,” said Mike Benard, Wheaton Park District’s executive director.

Special events, from scavenger hunts to theatrical productions, take place throughout the year at park district facilities. It is a joy and an honor to serve the entire greater Wheaton community.

Goings On at the Wheaton Library

There is always something going on at the Wheaton Public Library! Tables are filled with bridge players, knitters, people doing puzzles, tutors working with adults and children, teens working on projects, people taking video calls, and yes, people sitting quietly and reading a book. The library is truly a robust, inspiring and fun place to be.

To further meet the growing needs of local business owners, we recently launched a new small business networking group. All are welcome to join us the second Wednesday of each month at 8 a.m. in the library’s café, The Bean, for coffee, pastries and connection with fellow entrepreneurs. Our full schedule of Ignite events has more offerings than ever with weekly programs focusing on business, jobs and career growth. We feature a different Chamber member each month, on the first Wednesday at noon, to share their expertise with the business community.

Library usage continues to grow as we saw 8% growth in our in-person visitors as well as an incredible 81% growth in virtual visits, which includes remote services such as eContent, chat reference, social media engagement, virtual program attendance and more. As we work to close the digital divide, we recently hired a full-time technology instructor to meet the demand for more computer and tech classes as well as one-on-one assistance.

We recently made a big change to our main floor to welcome Spotlight, our new boutique-style marketplace. This new destination for readers will highlight trending topics and popular titles in a modern, browsable area. While you’re in the library, grab a coffee from our café, The Bean, which is quickly becoming known for their refreshing smoothies and delicious samosas.

‘Support local’ at the Heart of Group’s Mission

Downtown Wheaton is the heart of our city and the Downtown Wheaton Association (DWA) is proud to support a thriving business community and bustling city center. In addition to building a network of like-minded business owners, the DWA connects these Wheaton pillars with our residential neighbors, hosting dozens of events and welcoming thousands of individuals Downtown annually. We’ve got community classics, from the Summer Wine Walk and Innovator Hale Street Tents to the Chili Cookoff and Christmas Parade, and even some newer staples like the Mac ‘n Cheese Festival. There’s something for everyone in Downtown Wheaton.

Economic development remains at the forefront of our mission. In 2024 alone we’ve welcomed 22 new businesses to the community, and that trajectory continues into 2025, as we see continued interest from new businesses opening in Downtown Wheaton. In conjunction with our Economic Development Consortium led by the DWA, Wheaton Chamber of Commerce and the City of Wheaton, we look forward to providing tools, resources and guidance to entrepreneurs while promoting Wheaton as a business-friendly city.

Throughout 2025 and beyond, local remains at the heart of everything we do. Businesses throughout Wheaton are welcome to join our efforts to support local by becoming Associate Members of the DWA.
