In Just 45 Minutes, A Stronger You

Carol Jamison never planned to own a gym — let alone two. But after 20 years as a personal trainer, a persistent friend convinced her to try something new.

“He hounded me for weeks to come coach at F45,” Jamison said. “I finally came to a class and just fell in love with the community aspect of it.”

That class turned into a coaching role, which led to Jamison purchasing the F45 Training Liberty Township franchise with business partner Terrance Porter in 2023.

“Honestly, this has been a journey I didn’t realize I’d be so passionate about,” Jamison said.

F45 — short for “Functional 45” — delivers 45-minute workouts that combine strength and cardio training in groups of typically between 25 and 35 members.

“It’s personal training in a group setting,” Jamison said. “That’s what makes us different from any other gym in the area.”

Each class is guided by TV screens showing proper movement at each station, while two coaches walk the room offering support, motivation, and corrections.

“It’s fun,” Jamison said. “We bring the energy. There’s no pressure. We’re about your goals, on your timing.”

Saturday workouts are an exception — an hourlong hybrid class blending cardio and strength.

Memberships range from unlimited access to limited packages tailored to individual goals.

“You’re in, you’re out,” Jamison said of the attractive nature of quick-burst workouts that allow members to balance their personal fitness with busy lives.

The Liberty studio offers a welcoming, community-focused environment.

“What’s so unique about F45 is our coaches,” Jamison said. “We’re like family. More than half have been with us since the beginning.”

The studio also supports local charities, including Edge Teen Center.

“We do challenges where, if you bring in an item, you can give one of our coaches five burpees to do,” Jamison said of the business’s commitment to community support and engagement. “We try to give back to the community all the time.”

With workouts synchronized across global F45 locations, members can take the same class anywhere in the world. Jamison and Porter opened a Hyde Park location in 2024, and both studios share a combined 375 members and a 15-person team.

“It’s just been a phenomenal experience,” Jamison said. “Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d own a gym, let alone two. But I’ve completely fallen in love with it. It’s such a wonderful community.”

Stock Yards Bank & Trust Expands With New Liberty Township Branch

Stock Yards Bank & Trust, a Louisville-based financial institution that opened in 1904, plans to open a new branch in Liberty Township, Ohio, this October—its ninth location in the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky region and the first in Butler County. The location fills a regional gap where many existing business clients already exist.

Known for blending personalized service with comprehensive financial offerings, Stock Yards Bank & Trust continues its mission of community-focused banking with this strategic expansion.

West Chester Launches 2025 Spark Grant Program
Small businesses can receive up to $10,000 for exterior improvements

West Chester Township, Ohio (May 27,2025) – The Spark Small Business Revitalization Grant program returns to West Chester Township for 2025, providing grants ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 to qualifying local small businesses with 20 or fewer employees. Applications will open on June 1.

This small business grant program funds exterior improvement projects such as exterior painting or lighting, upgrades to outdoor public space, landscaping, signage, or demolition of an existing building.

“The Spark Grant program is a smart investment in our small business community that helps strengthen our tax base and enhance the appearance of our township,” said Mark Welch, West Chester Township Trustee and President of the Board. “This year, we’ve made improvements to the program to ensure it delivers real, lasting value for our neighborhoods while responsibly investing taxpayers’ dollars.”

Grant applications will open starting June 1 and will close on Aug. 31 at 11:59 p.m. This year, updates to eligibility requirements include reducing the maximum number of employees to 20 or less and excluding non-profit organizations. While small businesses throughout the township may apply for grants, the scoring criteria is weighted to target specific neighborhoods and business districts for reinvestment.

In 2024, the inaugural SPARK grant program approved funding for 18 projects, awarding a total of $114,081 to help local business owners improve the exterior of their business. Last year’s recipients used these grants for projects such as exterior painting, improved landscaping, new signage, and walkway and parking lot improvements.

“The Spark grant program has truly sparked pride in our local business community, as well as led to (additional) investment beyond the money provided by these grants,” said Director of Community Development Katy Kanelopoulos. “Last round, we saw more than $300,000 invested by the small business owners who received Spark grants, which has had a ripple effect on the surrounding community.”
