BOB JONES CITY-TO-SEA TRAIL
For a relaxing, family-friendly hike, the Bob Jones Trail is a paved, multi-use path stretching from
the outskirts of San Luis Obispo to Avila Beach. The trail follows San Luis Obispo Creek through shady
groves, open fields and vineyards before reaching the ocean—ideal for walkers, cyclists, joggers
and stroller outings. At the end, reward yourself with a beach swim or a picnic by the shore.

and elevation changes make it better suited for experienced hikers.

LOPEZ LAKE RECREATION AREA
Just east of Arroyo Grande, Lopez Lake offers miles of hiking trails suited for all levels, from easy
strolls to more challenging treks. The Vista Lago Trail, starting near the marina, is a moderate route
with panoramic views of the lake and surrounding mountains. Adventurers can tackle the Blackberry

nature. This one-mile loop winds through a serene garden filled with native California plants, offering
a quiet escape and a chance to enjoy seasonal wildflowers, especially vibrant in spring. Cared for by
dedicated volunteers, the garden also features interpretive signs that share the story of local flora

OSO FLACO LAKE TRAIL
The Oso Flaco Lake Trail is located in the southern portion of Oceano Dunes SVRA, part of the
Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Complex. The trail is approximately 1.7 miles round trip and mostly flat, making
it great for all skill levels. Enjoy the wooden boardwalk over the lake, panoramic water and dune views,
then continue to the beach for expansive Pacific views. Birdwatchers love this spot year-round. (No

PISMO PRESERVE
Pismo Preserve is one of the county’s most exciting outdoor destinations offering 880 acres of
protected open space with 11 miles of multi-use trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding. Just
minutes from downtown Pismo Beach, the preserve showcases sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, coastal
ridges and rolling valleys. Trails wind through grassy meadows and shaded oak woodlands, providing
everything from moderate walks to more challenging treks. The Discovery Trail is a favorite, rewarding
hikers with expansive coastal vistas, while other paths offer peaceful routes through forests and more
