SEMINOLE STATE COLLEGE
The college has been serving the educational needs of the Seminole community since 1931. Established as
the 13th and 14th grades of Seminole High School, the then-Seminole Junior College had only 36 students
enrolled during its first year. For close to 40 years, the college continued to operate as an extension
of the local high school, with classes held on the third floor of the high school building. Times have
changed, and thanks to the continued support of the Seminole community, Seminole State College has come
a long way since its humble beginning. Today, the college serves over 1,500 students each semester.
At SSC, students can receive associate degrees in 22 transfer degree programs including concentrations
in agriculture, art, biology, business, child development, computer science, criminal justice,
elementary education, health, physical education and recreation, health sciences, language arts, liberal
studies, pre-engineering, psychology, secondary education and social sciences. The college also offers
five workforce degree programs in business technology, medical laboratory technology, nursing and
physical therapy.
Students receive hands-on instruction and one-on-one attention from outstanding professionals. The
college also gives students and community members opportunities to travel the world to experience global
education. Each year, the college receives recognition for its outstanding sports programs. The
cross-country, golf, baseball, basketball, volleyball, soccer and softball teams compete as a member of
the National Junior College Athletic Association. Along with the student body, the campus has also grown
substantially over the years. The main campus sits on 40 acres at the intersection of Highways 9 and
270. Within the last decade, the college has acquired an additional 40 acres to accommodate expansion,
including several major capital projects. One of the most transformative additions is the Brian Crawford
Memorial Sports Complex, a seven-field facility that includes baseball and soccer fields, as well as an
adaptive field for athletes with physical or cognitive disabilities. On the academic side, the college
has opened a state-of-the-art Nursing Simulation Lab, offering students hands-on, high-fidelity training
to prepare for real-world clinical settings. In response to the growing popularity of competitive gaming
and digital careers, SSC has also invested in a new Esports Lab, equipped with high-performance
technology to support both collegiate competition and student engagement.
Through its substantial growth over the years, the college has demonstrated that phenomenal
accomplishments can be realized through effective teamwork. 2701 Boren Boulevard/(405) 382-9950/ www.sscok.edu
