At the heart of Mustang is the Mustang Public School District, which covers 69 square
miles in Canadian and Oklahoma counties. The Mustang Public School District celebrates not only its
academic success, but also several construction projects that will help the district keep pace with its
continued growth. The bond issue improvements should further ensure the Mustang Public School District
can continue to provide its students with quality educational opportunities, as well as the chance to
develop leadership and teamwork skills through a variety of student activities. Although the district
has 16 school sites, it retains the small-town feel that Mustang residents appreciate while offering
students all the opportunities available in a large district. While averages across grade levels are
important, the district believes its continued focus on individual student success will help identify
those children who might need extra help. Mustang Public Schools is also the largest employer in
Canadian County.
Vocational/Technical
Mustang is served by Canadian Valley Technology Center. Since
1969, Canadian Valley Technology Center has provided high-tech educational opportunities for adults,
high school students, small businesses and large corporations. The CVTC district offers career programs,
adult and continuing education and specialized corporate training.

Service Agency (FSA) in Canadian County possessing 500,776 acres. Approximately 253,784 acres are used

farm in Canadian County is 383 acres with a total net production value of $145,762,000 annually. The
average net cash return per farm is $111,524, which generates more than $145 million by way of economic
stimulation throughout the country’s economy.

valuation of $5,120,000. The number of businesses in Mustang also increased to 425 as tenants moved into
existing buildings and others built new facilities. The commercial growth in Mustang remains balanced as
the city adheres to the comprehensive plan and requires buffering between commercial development and
residential areas.
Health Care
INTEGRIS Canadian Valley Hospital has been a vital and growing part of
Canadian County since 2001. As a result of its recent expansion, the facility has grown into a 75 bed
comprehensive medical center offering a full range of medical, support and rehabilitation. In
partnership with physicians, nurses and support personnel, INTEGRIS Canadian Valley Hospital’s
mission is to improve the health of the people and communities we serve. The facility offers a full
range of services including surgery, lab, radiology, physical therapy, orthopedics, respiratory therapy,

Manufacturing
Major manufacturers located within Mustang City limits include
Industrial Gasket, a lock company, and an eye-ware production company. Some of the major firms
represented within five miles of Mustang include a printing equipment company and a heavy equipment
manufacturer.
Mining
The most significant mining in Canadian County is oil and gas. Part of the
impact on the overall local economy is due to the natural transitional line dividing the Anadarko Basin
that exists near Highway 81. The Anadarko Basin is known for the abundance of deep natural gas wells. In
Canadian County our natural gas wells average 15-18 thousand feet. The OCC approved 157 Intent to Drill
applications for Canadian County in calendar year 2024. Also in calendar year 2024, the OCC approved 108
completion reports for wells drilled in Canadian County (final numbers may increase). The vertical depth
of the wells completed in 2024 averaged 10,693 feet, while the horizontal lateral length of the wells
averaged 9,963 feet (the measured depth average is 19,859 feet which is a combination of the vertical
and horizontal measurements). The maximum lateral length for a horizontal well was 15,449 feet (a little
less than 3 miles) and the minimum lateral length was 4,996 feet (slightly less than 1 mile).
Completion reports identified 19 GAS wells, 63 OIL wells, and 26 other well types including drilled but
uncompleted wells and plugged and abandoned wells.
Wholesale and Retail Trade
The completions of Airport Road into State Highway 152 and Highway 4 provide a comfortable, convenient,
and timesaving four-lane highway that connects rural towns and subdivisions to the City of Mustang.
These highways meet together within Mustang City limits, placing Mustang in a centralized location for
major retail development. The ease in accessibility is mutually beneficial for commerce between the City
of Mustang and surrounding counties. Commerce can be measured in Mustang by considering the sales tax
collection which is a reliable indicator of prospering business. In FY 2024, almost $10.13 million was
collected.
