Hi! My name is Denise Heidel! I am so proud to serve our business community as the Executive Director of the Lewisville-Clemmons Chamber of Commerce. I am joined by Angelia Cornatzer, our Director of Communications and Events. Together with our working Board of Directors, Chamber Ambassadors, and Leads Group leadership teams, we work hard to create a robust menu of services, resources, and events that will be impactful for our members.

One of the things I love most about our Chamber community is our relational environment. While we are growth minded, this is a community of organizations who share a common goal for success. This is THE BEST group to be a part of if you want to be surrounded by people who will be excited for your wins and support you through your challenges.

In addition to the fun we have working with so many incredible businesses and organizations, we spend every day celebrating the two amazing communities we serve. Lewisville and Clemmons have so much to offer; they are uniquely different with each having a charm and personality. We work closely with both municipalities and know from first hand experience – Lewisville and Clemmons are great places to live, work, and have fun! It is certainly my pleasure to welcome you as a new member of the Lewisville-Clemmons Chamber of Commerce. Whether you reside in the Village of Clemmons or the Town of Lewisville, your investment in our greater community is truly appreciated.

As the owner of a small business for 35 years, I know firsthand how valuable your chamber membership can be through the many networking activities that are available to you. As importantly, by your support of the chamber, you have distinguished yourself and your business as among the leaders in helping to keep our communities a great place to live, work and raise a family.

Shallow Fords to Great Heights

The Town of Lewisville is a quaint “bedroom community” in western Forsyth County that has preserved the small-town feel while always improving. The residential community has over 13,000 residents and over 5,200 residential homes.

A large majority (86%) of residents said that they choose to live in Lewisville because they like the area, according to the 2019 Town survey.

Lewisville was incorporated in 1991, only two years after the Lewisville Civic Club began its efforts toward incorporation. Their goal was to maintain the small-town, family-friendly atmosphere that was so desired by people in the area. Lewisville wanted to allow its residents to guide the future, manage growth, and preserve its unique character.

While the town was incorporated in 1991, we have a long history as a township dating back to the 1700s. In the mid-1770s, settlers moving westward following the Great Wagon Road from Pennsylvania down into Virginia, and then North Carolina, frequently stopped overnight on the banks of the Yadkin River before crossing the Shallow Ford. The true beginnings of the town were solidified when Moravian settlers blazed a wagon trail across the pastures and established a community here.

Fast forward to today, while Lewisville is still considered a bedroom community, it prides itself on the services and opportunities provided to residents. We have a strong history of community spirit and actively engaged residents. Whether by attending one of our exciting events at Shallowford Square or taking a class at the Mary Alice Warren Community Center, taking a walk through the beautiful Jack Warren Park or renting one of our facilities to host a family event, our residents take part in their community.

We hear, year after year, “preserve the town’s character”, “connect neighborhoods to downtown”, “welcome small businesses”, etc. Lewisville takes a proactive approach to planning and growth. Our residents agree that a good way to achieve that proactive approach is to continue to maintain a balance of residential and commercial growth.

Lewisville is unique for a multitude of reasons. Our little town is a safe and attractive place to those who call Lewisville their home.

Dear Residents and Visitors,

It is with immense pride and a deep sense of responsibility that I welcome you to our beautiful village. Whether you are a long-time resident, a newcomer or just visiting, I am thrilled to have you as part of our community. Our village is a place where tradition meets progress, where neighbors look out for one another and where we work together to make this a welcoming and vibrant place to live, work and play. From the picturesque landscapes and charming streets to the powerful sense of community and shared values, there is something truly special about life here.

As your mayor, I am committed to ensuring that our village remains a place where everyone feels valued and included. We will continue to foster an environment that promotes safety, opportunity and connection for all. Together, we can continue to build on the rich history of our village while also looking forward to a bright and promising future. We have so much to offer, from a vibrant business community to recreation facilities that include the wonderful Tanglewood Park. There is something for everyone through the rich diversity of offerings that makes us the place that I love calling home.

Welcome To the Village of Clemmons

Nestled in the heart of North Carolina, the Village of Clemmons seamlessly blends modern amenities with the warmth and hospitality of southern charm. Founded in 1802 and incorporated in 1986, Clemmons has grown into a thriving community with a population of 21,408, all while maintaining its rich history and small-town appeal. Clemmons is proud of its heritage, notably as the home of Edwin T. Clemmons, a prominent figure who operated a stagecoach line. A restored stagecoach from his era, the Hattie Butner, can even be found on display at Clemmons Village Hall.

Today, the Village is home to a diverse range of neighborhoods — traditional, cluster and active senior living options—alongside a variety of churches, dining establishments, shopping experiences, and cultural venues. The arts thrive here, as does access to top-quality medical care, ensuring that residents enjoy a well-rounded, fulfilling lifestyle.

Clemmons also prides itself on delivering professional and fiscally responsible municipal services. From residential trash collection and bulk pickups to street maintenance, community policing and more, the village works hard to maintain its high standard of living, all at a low tax rate of $0.15 per $100 property valuation.

As a community, Clemmons is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for its residents. The village focuses on fostering connections through events and local programs, such as the annual Lego contest, community food drives, movie nights, Christmas tree lighting and the popular Monster Dash and Goblin Hop celebration. The village’s commitment to supporting local agriculture is evident in its vibrant farmers market, which operates from May through September at the Jerry Long YMCA.

Whether you’re a lifelong resident or a newcomer, Clemmons is a place where tradition meets innovation, and where the spirit of community is always alive and well.

A Shop Local Initiative Presented by the Lewisville-Clemmons Chamber of Commerce

For 18 years, the Lewisville-Clemmons Chamber of Commerce has been noted for excellence, with an unwavering commitment to supporting the local business community. As part of that ongoing mission, the Lewisville-Clemmons Chamber is excited to introduce a new program designed to promote the “shop small, shop local” movement. Executive Director Denise Heidel has spent several months working on “Chamber Cash.”

“Chamber Cash is pretty simple,” Denise explained. “It’s a gift certificate program that promotes local shopping and is exclusively accepted by participating Lewisville-Clemmons Chamber Members. Chamber Cash has all the same benefits of any gift certificate people may purchase from an individual business, but it can be spent at ANY of the numerous participating businesses that are members of the Lewisville-Clemmons Chamber of Commerce.

“We have borrowed the concept from our friends at Downtown Statesville Development Cooperation,” Denise continued. “I was introduced to their ‘Downtown Dollars’ program almost two years ago and knew it could be a great program for our Chamber, too. Not only will it help promote our participating members, Chamber Cash emphasizes the importance of doing business within our community. Later in the year for the Christmas shopping season, Chamber Cash is a new and innovative option for those looking for flexible gift giving while supporting local business!”

Denise shared, “While Chamber Cash can only be accepted by Chamber Members who sign up for the program, anyone can purchase or use Chamber Cash! A full list of participating merchants can be seen on our website, Lewisville-Clemmons.com, and of course, that list is anticipated to grow as the program grows!”

The Chamber Cash program is just one of several initiatives embraced by the Lewisville-Clemmons Chamber of Commerce. “We strive to bring added value and creative options to our Chamber members and the community,” said Denise. “Our staff and our Board of Directors are always eager to find new ways to engage in our community and encourage others to support our members. Chamber Cash is something we’re super excited about and we know that it’s a program that will offer years of benefits as we continue to grow and evolve.”
