Welcome
I landed in the Lake George area due to a career opportunity that came my way. While I was familiar with the region as a visitor, I hadn’t fully grasped the extensive year-round outdoor activities that both residents and visitors enjoy. The transition to living here was seamless. My preferred retailers, amenities, and essentials are all conveniently within a 15-20 minute radius from my home. As a newcomer, I’ve discovered the area’s allure, which includes factors like the quality of life, excellent schools, abundant activities, affordability, healthcare access, and proximity to major cities: Montreal, Boston, and New York City. These are just a few reasons why people are enamored with this place.
To describe the role of the Lake George Regional Chamber of Commerce & Convention Visitor’s Bureau (LGRCVB), I often explain it this way: we operate as a “business to consumer” Chamber (B2C). Our purpose is to connect businesses/members with visitors and vice versa. Our activities are very visitor-focused, involving the operation of the Lake George Village Information Center, participation in consumer travel shows, and distribution of travel guides beyond the area to reach potential visitors. The Lake George Regional Convention & Visitors Bureau (LGRCVB) functions as a division of the Chamber and an extension of the Warren County Department of Tourism. It receives funding from the Warren County Occupancy Tax collections, specifically to enhance and expand group travel business including meetings, conventions, sports events, and bus tours. We also facilitate services for these business guests to host successful events in the Lake George area. Additionally, we manage the Taste NY market at the Adirondacks Welcome Center, aligning with our mission of offering visitor services, linking businesses and visitors, and promoting activities in the Adirondack region.
For businesses and residents relocating to the area, the Chamber provides diverse assistance. During recruitment, we offer materials highlighting the region’s quality of life. We provide businesses with research, referrals, and intelligence about the region to support informed decisions. For individual residents, we offer information and referrals related to career opportunities, housing, education, and more. The LGRCVB extends assistance for special events, job fairs, conferences, and trade shows where outside resources are needed for success.
Since arriving, I’ve purchased a log home in Lake Luzerne which was once a bar/restaurant situated on five acres (projects for the rest of my life). I’ve embraced outdoor adventures like hiking, biking, kayaking, snowshoeing, and more. As a native Floridian, I’ve come to love winters because of all the activities that showcase extreme winter sports races, beautiful ice castles, ice bars and I’ve even enjoyed a helicopter ride over the lake. I’ve also explored local small shops and agritourism options such as maple, honey, cheese, and artisan crafts -- all in the making! The community members I’ve met are deeply invested in the region, and I enjoy hearing their stories.
If you’re considering relocating to the region as a resident, a business or an investor, please contact us. We’re here to help you become a colleague, neighbor, and friend in this wonderful community!

Transportation
Greater Glens Falls Transit (GGFT) is a Department of the City of Glens Falls. Services are funded in part with funds from the Federal Transit Administration and the New York State Dept. of Transportation, in addition to fares and local government support. GGFT operates all its services without regard to gender, race, color, religion, or national origin.
GGFT operates year-round, fixed route public transit services to the greater Glens Falls area. Routes span portions of Warren, Washington and Saratoga counties and include Glens Falls, Queensbury, South Glens Falls, Lake George, Hudson Falls, Kingsbury, Fort Edward, and Moreau. GGFT began operation in 1984 and on an annual basis transport over 320,000 riders.
Routes operate Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. – 9:45 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. The regular fare is $1.00 with 50 cent transfers between buses. Persons who are 60+ years of age, those who are Medicare eligible, and persons with a documented disability are ½ fare. Multi–ride passes are also available, and single ride tokens are available for purchase in bulk by area agencies and businesses.
All GGFT buses are wheelchair accessible. GGFT also operates a separate paratransit service called the Freedom and Mobility Express (FAME) for persons with significant mobility restrictions that restrict them from using accessible fixed route buses. More information about FAME and a FAME application can be located at the GGFT website at www.gftransit.org/f-a-m-e-service-description.
GGFT operates weekday transit service to Lake George year-round (See Route 19 schedule). Service is expanded during the summer season using trolley style buses. Visit https://gftransit.org/ for maps and schedules.
GGFT has partnered with the Capital District Transportation Authority and CDPHP Cycle to make Bike Share available in Glens Falls, Queensbury and Lake George. Cycle Bike Docks are located in Glens Falls on Ridge St in front of City Hall and on Hudson Ave in front of 15 Hudson near Glens Falls Hospital. In Queensbury at the Warren County Bikeway parking lot on Country Club Road and in Lake George on Beach Rd. near the Steel Pier.
Bringing CDPHP Cycle to GGFT’s service area has been made possible by financial contributions from the City of Glens Falls, the Towns of Queensbury and Lake George and Warren County. Generous support has also been provided by the following private sponsors: Hudson Headwaters Health Network, The Queensbury Hotel, The Fort William Henry Hotel & Conference Center, Sprinkles Ice Cream, the Glens Falls Business Improvement District, and Adirondack Cycling Advocates.

By using real-time data and innovative solutions, the Jefferson Project pioneers a blueprint for freshwater conservation worldwide.

It’s no accident that Lake George’s waters remain clear and pristine.
Lake George is the only lake in the state to have its own state agency – the Lake George Park Commission, which helped Lake George emerge as a leader in lake protection with the first mandatory boat inspection program in the Eastern United States.
We are fortunate as well to have three non-profit agencies that each play a different role in protecting the lake’s legacy, which is also the cornerstone of our tourism economy.
Here is a brief overview of what they do, taken from their respective websites:
Lake George Association
2392 New York 9N, PO Box 408,
Lake George, NY 12845
(518) 668-3558 | info@lakegeorgeassociation.org
Since 1885 the Lake George Association (LGA) has protected the Lake and everything in it. In fact, the Lake George Association was the very first lake conservation organization in the United States. The LGA’s projects have tackled many of the Lake’s problems over the years, including banning phosphorus, updating stormwater protections, developing and implementing the Lake Steward program that evolved into the Lake George Park Commission’s Boat Inspection Program. An organization of action, the LGA performs water quality monitoring programs, performs critical, in-the-ground projects that make a positive difference in lake George water quality now and in the future. The LGA has a comprehensive, award-winning Lake education program that teaches people that their everyday actions help keep the Lake clean. The LGA offers many ways for citizens to learn and get involved including the Floating Classroom.
Lake George Land Conservancy
4905 Lake Shore Dr., PO Box 1250,
Bolton Landing, NY 12814
518-644-9673 | info@lglc.org | lglc.org
Protecting the land that protects the lake since 1988. The Lake George Land Conservancy is an accredited not-for-profit land trust dedicated to working with willing landowners and other partners to protect the world-renowned water quality of Lake George and to permanently preserve the natural, scenic, historical and recreational resources of the Lake George region.
The LGLC owns/manages 37+ miles of trails for passive recreation, and offers educational programs year-round. Events such as Hike-A-Thon help people get out and enjoy the land around the lake and see how they can make an individual impact in protecting it. The LGLC also offers a Next-Gen committee to engage and inspire the next generation of conservationists.
Agriculture
Step onto the farm, and a whole new realm of understanding unfolds — the very roots of your sustenance come to life before you.
The landscape’s rich tapestry of agriculture is a treasure trove waiting to be explored. Discover farm-fresh eggs, ethically nurtured livestock, certified organic goods, maple wonders, dairy delights, world-renowned cheeses, artisanal beverages, lavender luxuries, blooming plants, and an array of other treasures.
The farms beckon you to delve into their essence, inviting you to witness the intricate workings of agriculture firsthand.
Embrace the Thurman Community Association’s offerings such as Thurman Maple Days in March and Thurman Fall Farm Tours. These events provide a gateway to the region’s heritage of farming and forestry, an authentic agritourism experience. Engage with traditions like crafting Adirondack maple “jack wax.” Once, this frozen delight was born by drizzling heated maple syrup onto clean snow, resulting in a taffy-like texture. Today, Thurman Maple Days offer bowls of jack wax made with shaved ice — an evolution of a timeless treat.
In Washington County, a plethora of farm experiences awaits—beekeeping and corn mazes among them.
Indulge in the flavors of locally-crafted beverages and fruits at vineyards and apple orchards. Some breweries even incorporate hops grown in the local terroir. Unique farm-to-table dinners await, set against picturesque backdrops like a meticulously restored barn or a fragrant lavender farm.
The journey doesn’t end with edibles.
Infuse your holidays with the warmth of locally-sourced Christmas trees and décor from nearby farms. Discover the realm of local craftsmanship — clothing and accessories woven from the wool of alpacas and other cherished animals found in local farms.
Let’s commemorate the tapestry of our heritage and weave a new tradition with the embrace of our local farms.
