“Grow to Greatness”! This annual welcome guide is an informative resource to familiarize
yourself with everything that Hoffman Estates has to offer for residents – especially new
residents!
For over 30 years, the Hoffman Estates Chamber of Commerce & Industry has been supporting and
advocating for Hoffman Estates area businesses. The Chamber of Commerce hosts several community events
throughout the year for our residents to enjoy! Hoffman Estates offers high-quality lifestyle amenities,
excellent dining options and entertainment venues for everyone. Our community is filled with hundreds of
acres of park district properties, forest preserves and over 27 miles of bike paths connecting
surrounding communities.

On behalf of the village board, I welcome you to the Village of Hoffman Estates!
The village is proud of its reputation as a thriving community filled with a variety of housing
options, top-notch education districts and exciting dining and entertainment venues. The NOW Arena
nestled in our growing 59/90 Entertainment District. Sprawled over 20-plus square miles, the village is
also home to the Windy City Bulls and the Chicago Bulls G-League, as well as a robust park district that
offers residents access to “first-class parks, facilities, programs and services to meet the needs
of a diverse and dynamic population.” Hundreds of acres of park land and forest preserve are also
available to explore!
In addition to high-quality entertainment and lifestyle amenities, the village provides second-to-none
public safety amenities through enhanced police, fire and public works services. These departments
consistently monitor and evaluate programs and services, making sure the safety and security of our
residents are their top priorities.
With an expanding population base in the region, the Village of Hoffman Estates has made major strides
in the areas of business and economic development, inter-agency cooperation and growth management, and
is poised for future growth, both commercially and residentially.
The village also offers good employment prospects, excellent educational opportunities and a modern
infrastructure. A full interchange at I-90 and Barrington Roads along with comprehensive PACE bus
services, including a modern Park-n-Ride/Kiss-n-Ride, undoubtedly enhances the residential and visitor
experience within the area.

Welcome to Your New Home
Welcome to the new home you’ve imagined! With a neighborly population nearing 55,000, Hoffman
Estates remains approachable, while still being poised for future growth, both commercially and
residentially.
Located primarily in Cook County with a small portion in Kane County, and just a short 15-mile hop over
to O’Hare International Airport, Hoffman Estates provides convenient access to all major
attractions within the Chicago area and
the state.
Residents of all ages enjoy numerous community recreational activities and amenities, such as mini
golf, aquatic facilities, live entertainment venues and bike trail pathways connecting northwest suburbs
on the Poplar Creek Trail. Award-winning schools, medical facilities, restaurants and park district
facilities round out the amenities on which you rely.
As you explore your new hometown, you will find that Hoffman Estates has plenty of attractions to keep
you entertained and engaged. The NOW Arena, Village Green, Main Event and Hideaway Brew Garden are all
part of the Poplar Creek at 59-90 Entertainment District, located at the intersection of 1-90 and Route
59.
The NOW Arena is an 11,000-seat multipurpose family cultural entertainment center that accommodates a
variety of events including concerts, family shows and sporting events. During the warm months, enjoy
outdoor concerts and events, such as the Summer Concert Series, Movies on the Green, Northwest
Fourthfest and Platzkonzert German Fest. These events are located at the Village Green Amphitheater and
The Hideaway Brew Garden. Hoffman Estates offers a variety of activities to keep you entertained and
busy in your new home and your new community!
Community Events
Hoffman Estates offers numerous special events designed to draw people together to celebrate, network, recreate, preserve cultural traditions and to enjoy life. All events are open to the public, whether they are residents of Hoffman Estates or beyond. Top events annually planned by the Village of Hoffman Estates and the Hoffman Estates Chamber of Commerce and Industry are:
Bon Appétit Food & Drink Festival | Spring
This Community food and drink festival is held each spring and features exquisite cuisine samples from
restaurants throughout the northwest suburbs for the attendees to enjoy. Our Sister Cities Commission
from the Village of Hoffman Estates brings a French chef to display his culinary skills at the festival.
Local college culinary students participate in a cupcake baking contest and the winning team is awarded
scholarships funds.
Community Fishing Derby | Summer
This catch-and-release derby is usually held in June on Father’s Day weekend, when no one needs a
fishing license to enjoy angling. The event annually attracts over 500 registered fishing sports
enthusiasts of all ages. The lake is stocked with tagged fish, sponsored by local businesses, and the
lucky winners receive cash prizes.
Community Car Show | Summer
“Cruisin’ with the Chamber” on a Saturday night in the summer! Open to all makes,
models and years, this is a free, fun-filled family event with live music, food and raffles!
Summer Sounds on the Green | Summer
Enjoy eight weeks of concerts every Thursday evening during Summer Sounds on the Green at the Village
Green next to the NOW Arena. Sponsored by the Hoffman Estates Arts Commission, this concert series
features music that appeals to all tastes, from pop and country to swing and a capella.
Hideaway Brew Garden | May – October
Hideaway Brew Garden is a unique and fun outdoor venue featuring delicious food, refreshing beverages
and live music Thursdays through Sundays — bring the kids and even your well-behaved dog! Private
booths, tables or group camper rentals are available or bring your own blankets and lawn chairs and
enjoy time outdoors together.
Stars & Stripes | June
Hoffman Estates partners with BellWorks Chicagoland to sponsor Stars & Stripes, an exciting day of
running events through the beautiful BellWorks campus and surrounding Paul Douglas Forest Preserves.
Join thousands of runners challenging themselves in the 5k, 10k and half marathon on this
USATF-certified course.
NW 4TH Fest | July
Join the Village of Hoffman Estates and the Hoffman Estates Park District to celebrate our
nation’s independence at the Northwest Fourth-Fest. This multi-day festival is held outside NOW
Arena and features the region’s largest fireworks show, a spectacular drone show, 5 acres of
carnival rides, live music, a free kids’ zone with petting zoo, games and activities, food from
local vendors and a beer garden.
Northwest Celtic Fest — Shenanigans On The Green | August
The annual Northwest Celtic Fest is held at the Village Green and Hideaway Brew Garden. Celebrating the
Celtic cultures, this regional fest features musicians and dancers, free activities for kids, a
whiskey-tasting tent and authentic Celtic treats. Visit the Celtic Marketplace, hosting vendors from
across the area selling unique cultural wares. Representatives from several clans will also be on hand
to help guests discover their Celtic heritage. Hundreds of the Queen’s favorite pups, corgis, will
be dashing at the Corgi meetup!
Platzkonzert Germanfest | September
Autumn is the perfect time to celebrate all things German. The Village’s annual Platzkonzert
Germanfest features German singing, musicians, dancers and food at the Village Green. This outdoor event
offers brats, sauerkraut, potato salad, strudel and other German fare, plus beer and wine for sale,
German entertainment for all ages and free kids’ activities. Enjoy hundreds of dachshunds dashing
together at the annual Dachshund meetup!
Friendship Tree Lighting | November
Usher in the winter holiday season with the annual Friendship Tree lighting ceremony at Hoffman Estates
Village Hall (1900 Hassell Road). This event features entertainment, refreshments and a special visit
with Santa Claus for the children. The tree lighting is followed by an exciting fireworks show, a unique
experience during the winter.

In Hoffman Estates, recreation is part of everyday life. HEParks makes it easy to stay active, connect
with others and enjoy the outdoors. With award-winning programs, well-maintained parks and top-tier
facilities, there’s something for everyone.
HEParks is proud to be a National Gold Medal Award winner for excellence in parks and recreation. From
youth sports to senior programs, the impact of our work is felt every day.
The Triphahn Center features two ice rinks, a fitness center, gym, walking track, dance studio, senior
center and preschool. The Willow Recreation Center offers boutique-style fitness, racquetball, a skate
park, dog park, and a branch of the Palatine Library.
The Club at Prairie Stone spans 100,000 square feet with group fitness, HIIT, an indoor lap pool,
personal training, a spa and more.
In summer, Seascape Family Aquatic Center is a favorite with water slides, splash zones and party
rentals. The Bridges of Poplar Creek Country Club features a beautifully maintained 18-hole course, a
newly renovated Toptracer Range and a traditional driving range with 50 lighted stations hitting off
both grass and synthetic turf to four target greens. The outdoor Beer Garden hosts live music and is a
popular spot for gatherings. Bridges also serves as a venue for weddings, celebrations and corporate
events.
Residents enjoy 80+ parks, 40 playgrounds, five splash pads, 14 miles of trails and more. Vogelei Park
& Barn features a certified arboretum and historic charm.
HEParks offers programs for all ages, from preschool and enrichment to sports, arts and wellness.

NEW RESIDENT CHECKLIST
Welcome to your new home in Hoffman Estates! As you settle in, you may have questions about village
services and resources. This checklist will provide you with the information you need as you set up your
new home. For more information, visit the Village of Hoffman Estates at www.hoffmanestates.org.
Village Hall
Hoffman Estates Village Hall, 1900 Hassell Road, is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday
and 9 a.m. to noon on the second Saturday of each month.
Public Safety Services
Call 911 to report emergencies within the village. The police nonemergency number is (847)
781‑2800. If it is not possible to make a voice call to 911, Hoffman Estates residents can text
911 with a brief statement, location of the emergency and type of help needed.
Residents can also sign up for the emergency alert system, which sends out texts to inform the
community of emergency situations. To register for the emergency alert system, visit www.hoffmanestates.org/emergencyalert.
Solid Waste and Recycling
Residents are charged monthly for garbage pickup. Recycling is free for all residents. Garbage pickup
by Groot is every Monday for residents who live north of Jane Addams Memorial Tollway and every
Wednesday for residents south of Jane Addams Tollway (including residences west of Bartlett Road). For
billing questions and changes in your services, call the village at (847) 843‑4824.
Yard Waste
Yard waste is collected from April through November, and pickup is available through a subscription
service or by purchasing individual stickers. Visit www.hoffmanestates.org for a list of acceptable
materials.
Vehicle Stickers
Vehicle stickers are not required. Some neighborhoods participate in a free parking sticker program
near Conant and Hoffman Estates high schools and the Alcoa Lane area. For more information, call the
clerk’s office at (847) 781‑2625.
Water and Sewer Services
Residents are billed monthly for water service. To set up water services, call the village hall at
(847) 843‑4824 or activate your new account online at www.hoffmanestates.org/waterbilling.
Report sewer-related problems to the Public Works Department by calling (847) 490‑6800 from 8 a.m.
to 4 p.m. weekdays; call the Police Department at (847) 781-2800 after hours. Call 911 to report
after-hours water main breaks or other emergencies.
Utilities
• Electric can be set up through ComEd by visiting www.comed.com or by calling (800) 334‑7661.
• Natural gas is provided by Nicor Gas. Set up your account by visiting www.nicorgas.com or calling (888) 642‑6748.
Cable TV
Cable services that are available in Hoffman Estates include:
• AT&T U-Verse or DirectTV. Check availability for your neighborhood by visiting www.att.com or calling (800) 288‑2020.
• Comcast | Xfinity. Visit www.my.xfinity.com or call (800) 266‑2278.
Village Board Meetings
Village government consists of a mayor and six elected trustees who serve a four-year term. Village
board meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the first and third Monday of each month in the Village Hall
Council Chambers, 1900 Hassell Road Standing committees of the Village Board meet on the second or
fourth Monday of each month.

at www.hoffmanestates.org.
Village Communications
The Citizen newsletter is mailed to every household and business and is posted on the village website.
Announcements include up-to-date events, activities, services and informative feature stories. If your
household is not receiving a newsletter, call (847) 781-2600.

up to date on village news. Visit www.hoffmanestates.org for information and to sign
up.
Pet Licenses
A registered pet tag helps families reunite with a lost fluffy friend. Yearly pet licenses are required
for all pets age 6 months and older and expire on Oct. 31. Proof of rabies is required before receiving
the license. Pet tag fee is $5 per pet. Residents may not have more than five cats or dogs. For more
