2025 Annual Awards Dinner Nominees
Yvonne Knaack:
Yvonne Knaack has been a key member of the Glendale Chamber of Commerce since 1993. She was named
Chamber Volunteer of the Year in 2001 and served as chair of the board in 2005, helping implement the
Chairman's Circle. Elected to the Glendale City Council in 2006, she became the city’s first
female vice mayor and served for two years. Throughout her eight years on the council, she was a strong
supporter of the chamber and helped hire its last two CEOs. Yvonne has also served as chair of the
Chamber Public Policy Committee, chair of the Glendale Chamber PAC, and chair of the Glendale Downtown
Strategic Leadership Advisory Group from 2018 to 2022. She currently represents the Kiwanis Club of
Glendale and the Glendale Salvation Army and sits on the boards of four nonprofits.
Christine Steinberg:
For over 30 years, Chris Steinberg, founder of A Creative Solution, has helped businesses make a
lasting impact at trade shows and events. She and her team specialize in creating strategic marketing
experiences, offering everything from sleek banner stands to custom modular exhibits. At A Creative
Solution, Chris ensures that every display is tailored to her client’s unique goals and integrates
seamlessly with their broader marketing efforts, including branded apparel and promotional giveaways.
Chris’s approach combines creativity, customization, and practicality, ensuring each solution
meets the client’s needs, budget, and vision. Her passion lies in delivering fresh, innovative
strategies and getting it right the first time. Outside of work, Chris stays ahead of industry trends
and continually develops creative strategies to help her clients shine at their next event.
Amy Ross:
Amy Ross is the proud Arizona franchise owner of Drybar, the premium blowout salon brand. With a deep
passion for the beauty industry, Amy has played a pivotal role in expanding Drybar's presence in
Arizona, growing the brand to seven locations across the Phoenix metropolitan area since 2011. A
seasoned beauty industry professional with over 20 years of experience, Amy’s career began at
Clinique Cosmetics, where she worked behind the counter. She later advanced to an executive role with
the Estee Lauder Companies before transitioning into entrepreneurship. Recognizing the untapped
potential in Arizona, Amy partnered with Drybar’s founders at the brand’s inception to bring
the innovative blowout bar concept to the Phoenix area, quickly establishing a successful salon chain in
the desert. Beyond her business achievements, Amy is a dedicated philanthropist, committed to giving
back to the community. She actively supports charitable causes, including the American Heart
Association’s Heart Ball Phoenix and Dancing with the Stars Arizona, among others.

Brandi Paucek:
Brandi is a dedicated patriot with a deep passion for supporting veterans in her community. For over
seven years, she has been an active member of the Glendale Chamber of Commerce, where she maximizes
their impact through the Military and Veterans Committee. With a strong commitment to service, Brandi
has volunteered countless hours to veterans’ causes, fostering meaningful connections and driving
initiatives that honor and uplift those who have served. Her unwavering dedication reflects a profound
respect for military sacrifice and a desire to give back. Brandi continues to champion the needs of
veterans, blending community leadership with heartfelt advocacy. She also works to build a strong civic
duty in her children by including them in volunteering when possible.
Todd R. Sandrin, Ph.D. :
Todd Sandrin serves as vice provost at ASU’s West Valley campus and Dean of the New College of
Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences. Since his appointment in 2017, he has overseen significant
enrollment growth and student success. Todd has led collaborative efforts, including securing $5M in
funding from the National Science Foundation to support transfer student success in STEM. Previously, he
helped launch growing programs in Forensic Science, Cybersecurity, and Environmental Science, and
created the NCUIRE undergraduate research program. He also teaches microbiology, ASU 101, STEM success,
and introductory biology. Todd resides in Glendale with his wife, Susannah, and their children, Grace
(16) and Victor (19).
David Mitchell:
David Mitchell, the founder of Ideal Insurance Agency, has over 40 years of experience in the insurance
industry. He holds multiple professional designations, including CIC and CPCU, and is licensed in all
lines of insurance in Arizona. David co-founded Ideal Insurance in 1982, leading it to receive numerous
awards, including Best Insurance Agency in Glendale (2022-2024). In addition to his business
achievements, David is an experienced educator, teaching insurance courses at various colleges and
continuing education programs since 2002. He has served on several boards, including the Independent
Insurance Agents of Arizona, and has been recognized with multiple industry awards. David is deeply
involved in community service, including as Chair of the Arizona Justice Center and various chamber of
commerce roles. He is also a consultant and expert witness, having consulted on over 60 insurance cases.
David holds a bachelor's degree in management, two master's degrees, and several prestigious HR
designations.
AZ Perfect Comfort:
AZ Perfect Comfort is a family and veteran-owned HVAC company in Phoenix, Arizona, founded by John and
Robin McCombs. They provide expert heating and cooling services for homes and businesses, including
installation, repair, and maintenance. With a focus on energy efficiency and reliability, their skilled
team ensures year-round comfort tailored to Arizona’s climate. Whether replacing an outdated
system, performing routine maintenance, or handling emergency repairs, they deliver high-quality service
with honesty and customer satisfaction at the core. AZ Perfect Comfort is committed to keeping homes and
businesses cool in the summer and warm in the winter with dependable HVAC solutions.
Gary is the president and founder of a youth nonprofit organization, OCJ Kids (Opportunity, Community,
and Justice for Kids). OCJ Kids currently reaches out to over 10,000 foster children in the State of
Arizona through in home mentor visits, season outreach events, field trips, and nationwide community
partners. OCJ has been serving foster and at-risk children and youth in Arizona since 1996.
Gary Webb:
Gary currently serves as the committee chair for the Arizona Foster Care Network, connecting the faith
community with local foster group homes and DCS offices across Arizona. OCJ Kids is currently providing
resources, programming, training, and consulting in nine states.
Gary has spoken for conferences, youth camps, school assemblies and city wide youth outreaches locally
and overseas in the Philippines, Tanzania Africa, India, and New Zealand. We recently launched the
Restoring Dignity Project in Gisborne and Taupo, New Zealand.
Dr. Theresa Christensen:
Dr. Theresa Christensen is an experienced leader in early childhood education with over 26 years of
expertise. As the Founder and CEO of Bright Beginnings Preschool and Childcare, she champions
high-quality learning environments, empowering educators and building community partnerships. Holding a
PhD in Clinical Psychology, along with degrees in Human Services, Business Management, and Marriage &
Family Therapy, Theresa specializes in curriculum development, workforce readiness, and sustainable
childcare models. She is an advocate for improved policies and industry standards, serving on the
Northwest Maricopa Regional Council for First Things First and volunteering with the AzAEYC. Passionate
about making a difference, she is focused on expanding community-centered, sustainable childcare models
with a vision for employee ownership and lasting impact on early childhood education.
Maria Brunner:
Maria, Community Impact Manager at Credit Union West, brings over 30 years of financial industry
experience to drive strategic community partnerships and initiatives. She has been a board member of the
Glendale Chamber of Commerce since 2014, serving as its first Latina chair in 2018, and holds leadership
roles in several organizations, including the Prescott Valley Chamber's Hispanic Business Association,
Women’s Council of Realtors, and Global Women’s Leadership Network. Maria serves on multiple
boards, including the Pendergast Elementary School District Foundation and OCJ Kids. She has fostered
valuable partnerships in financial education with ACEE Investing in Girls, YWCA, and local school
districts. A finalist for the 2024 Credit Union Times Luminaries Awards and nominated for the Greater
Phoenix Chamber of Commerce ATHENA Award, Maria is a dedicated leader, championing diversity, business
growth, and community engagement.
One Step Beyond:
Since 2003, One Step Beyond's vision is a world in which people with intellectual and developmental
disabilities are fully included in all areas of our community and recognized for their potential,
talents, and contributions to society. Thus, we provide a unique variety of programs and services to
support the unique goals and dreams of over 700 individuals, at five campuses, and their families
throughout the greater Phoenix area. We offer a comprehensive support system from residential services,
life skills training, adaptive recreation programs, culinary training, employment support, speech
therapy, and home based community and in home services.
Benevilla:
Benevilla is a local nonprofit dedicated to enriching lives through compassionate support and community
services. Founded in 1981, Benevilla provides a wide range of programs, including adult day services,
caregiver support, and volunteer-driven assistance for older adults and individuals with disabilities.
The organization fosters a strong sense of community through intergenerational programs that connect
youth with seniors, promoting lifelong learning and engagement. Benevilla also offers caregiver
resources, wellness programs, and social services to ensure individuals can age with dignity and
independence. With a mission centered on enhancing quality of life, Benevilla relies on dedicated staff,
volunteers, and generous donors to continue providing essential services. Through collaboration with
local partners and innovative programming, Benevilla remains a trusted resource for individuals and
families in need of support throughout the West Valley.
Tarinda Craglow:
Tarinda Craglow joined Ombudsman Charter High Schools in 2018 as an outreach specialist, leveraging her
Bachelor’s in Psychology and Master’s in Social Work to address the social and emotional
needs of disengaged youth. With over 20 years of experience, she has served in various roles, including
school social worker and director of social work, and currently holds certification through ADE. Tarinda
developed the C.A.R.E.S. program, mentoring Social Work interns to enhance school social work presence,
improve student attendance, and boost graduation rates. As director of Enrollment and Outreach, she
oversees student enrollment growth across multiple Phoenix campuses and the state-wide Online Academy,
ensuring access to education for students across Arizona. Her dedication earned her the 2021 Arizona
School Social Worker of the Year award.
Laura Roman:
Laura Roman is a dedicated advocate for those who serve, including military members, first responders,
educators, and healthcare professionals. As an affiliate of Homes for Heroes, she helps provide
financial savings to these heroes in their journey to homeownership. Beyond real estate, Laura serves as
an honorary commander at Luke Air Force Base, fostering military connections, and as the Family Matters
Trustee for the Air Force Sergeants Association, supporting military families. She also contributes as a
board member for the Pendergast Foundation, strengthening community programs. With compassion and
integrity, Laura believes in building stronger communities through action. Her guiding principle:
"Serving, not selling."
Katrina Eaton:
Katrina has over 23 years of service with Vitalant, beginning in 2001 as our legacy blood center United
Blood Services. She started her career as the operator for the customer contact center, while a student
at Arizona State University, and then progressed to an account manager for the Scottsdale Territory.
Since 2008, Katrina has worked as senior account manager for the Glendale and Peoria Territory.
Partnering with the Glendale Chamber of Commerce has enhanced support from new and existing businesses,
schools, churches, and various organizations across the community. This partnership has grown over the
years to now host over 10 drives a year with Chamber businesses. The Glendale Chamber of Commerce began
the first Donate for Mothers Blood Drive in Arizona in 2024 and has created an annual blood drive
celebrating Mother’s Day and all mothers’ who have needed blood transfusions. The Chamber is
also helping patients served by Vitalant and helping create a diverse and stable blood supply for those
in need of this life-saving medicine.
Jeff Brunner:
Jeff grew up in Toledo Ohio and moved to Tucson Arizona to attend the University of Arizona. After
University of Arizona graduation, he moved up to Phoenix and was part owner in two S-Corporations
offering everything from online service to website development. Jeff gained extensive experience in many
“Contract” IT (Information Technology) positions and worked 35 years in IT at the Enterprise
level from insurance, education, banking, and government to high-end engineering. He attended several
Glendale Chamber of Commerce events per year starting in 2015 through his wife Maria Brunner. After
retiring in 2022, Jeff applied and was approved to be an Ambassador which he has served one and half
years to present. Jeff loves attending ribbon cuttings, ground breakings, and Business after Hours,
Business Over Breakfast and most of all, greeting members at the door.
Andrea Schauer:
Andrea believes that understanding technology empowers individuals to take control of their futures and
that education and perseverance can transform lives. Born and raised in Arizona, she attended local
public schools before earning a degree from Arizona State University. As a professor and program
director at Glendale Community College, she brings industry experience and is dedicated to making IT
education fun and accessible.
Raised by hard working parents who prioritized financial literacy and higher education, Andrea strives
to make complex concepts understandable and equip students with the knowledge and confidence to thrive
in the tech industry. Passionate about mentorship and workforce development, she is committed to
breaking down barriers in tech and guiding students toward success, helping them gain the skills needed
for high-paying, future-proof careers.
Stanton Optical:
Stanton Optical in Glendale, owned by Shiggy Yamada, has quickly established itself as a leader in
eyecare since opening in December 2022. Their outstanding service has earned recognition, including a
2023 PHX Magazine "Best of the Valley" finalist, a 2024 Nextdoor Neighborhood Fave, and a 2025
Trusted Partner award from the Academies of Math & Science. Beyond accolades, Stanton Optical is
dedicated to community engagement, participating in initiatives like the Toys-For-Tots Holiday Campaign,
partnering with CharityVision to treat sight impairments in developing nations, and supporting local
health and safety events. With same-day glasses and walk-in appointments, their innovative approach
blends convenience with compassionate service, creating an experience that stands out in the Valley.
