We are thrilled to present our 2023 Community Guide and Membership Directory.

Chartered in 1968, the Dublin Chamber of Commerce has been serving the Dublin community for 55 years. Dedicated to the promotion of the Dublin business community as one of the best cities in which to do business, the Chamber is governed by a thirteen-member volunteer Board of Directors with Chief Executive Officer and support staff. The Board of Directors meet monthly to discuss current issues, programming, and goals for the Chamber.

Chamber membership encompasses large and small retailers, professionals, service-oriented businesses, corporations, schools, churches, and nonprofit organizations.

The City of Dublin has a number of business incentives to attract and retain business. Boasting the lowest business license fee in Alameda County, offering a wide range of housing and employment opportunities, and excellent schools, Dublin is a great place to live, work and do business.

The Chamber of Commerce acts as a business referral network for member businesses as well as community resource center.

We work for you by promoting you!

Excellent free business advice is available through the Chamber office by a S.C.O.R.E. (Service Corps of Retired Executives) representative. The SCORE representative is available by appointment only at the Chamber office. SCORE, Counselors to America’s Small Business is a volunteer association sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration, matching volunteer business-management counselors with present and prospective small business owners in need of expert advice. Appointments with a SCORE representative can be made by calling the Chamber office at 925-828-6200.

The Chamber maintains a current membership directory of all its members, listing company name, address, and telephone. Complimentary copies are available to members only.

All Chamber members are listed on the Dublin Chamber of Commerce website at no charge. Members can be located alphabetically, by business name, or categorically, by business classification. These listings, as well as a link to the member website, are free of charge.

Luncheons & Mixers: The Chamber hosts several mixers and luncheons throughout the year, giving members the opportunity to meet and grow relationships in a relaxed setting.

Sponsorships: Chamber members may sponsor events during the year, giving them exposure and added credibility in the business community.

Special Events: The Chamber annually hosts a State of the City address. Beginning in 2023, we will kick off a new series called Thought Leadership Forum, where a robust and diverse array of inspirational thinkers, creators, and visionaries will expose Chamber members to a higher level of thought.

Traditionally, the Chamber has hosted a Barbeque and Bowling Tournament. These events are great opportunities to meet fellow members and team build with your staff.

The Dublin Chamber of Commerce can authenticate the necessary forms for Chamber Members who ship their goods and products outside of the United States.

The Chamber provides its members the opportunity to promote their business by displaying business cards, coupons, and promotional material in the Chamber office.

Chamber Members offering educational seminars to assist other members grow their business can utilize the Chamber meeting rooms.

Grand openings and ribbon cuttings are available to new businesses joining the Dublin Chamber of Commerce. Pictures are published in the Chamber newsletter and on social media.

Membership in the Dublin Chamber of Commerce may be tax deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense.

Membership in the Dublin Chamber of Commerce provides you an opportunity to become involved in the Dublin community. We encourage members to volunteer for a committee and add input to an area of their interest. Committees include Economic Development, Event Planning, and Business Roundtable.

Membership within your Chamber indicates your business is trustworthy and has a high level of integrity and experience.

The Chamber publishes a quarterly newsletter featuring business updates, grand openings/ribbon cuttings, calendar of events, Chamber activities, as well as information on new and existing businesses. Members have the opportunity to place a flyer insert in the quarterly newsletter for a nominal fee.

The Dublin Chamber contracts with a national publisher who specializes in Chamber of Commerce publications. The directory contains information about the city, schools, churches, shopping, statistics, etc. All Dublin Chamber Members are listed in the directory. Members receive special advertising rates if they choose to advertise.

About the
CITY OF DUBLIN

The City of Dublin was incorporated on February 1, 1982 as a general law city. At the time of incorporation, a Council-Manager form of government was adopted. The Dublin City Council is comprised of five residents. Four council members are elected by district; while the Mayor is directly elected. The City Council is responsible for adopting legislation and establishing city policies.

The City Manager, who is appointed by the City Council, is responsible for enforcing ordinances, implementing Council policies and supervising the day-to-day operations of the city’s operating departments.

The City of Dublin serves the residents and businesses through the following departments: Administrative Services, City Manager’s Office, Community Development, Fire, Parks & Community Services, Police and Public Works.

In October 1989, city offices occupied the award-winning Dublin Civic Center. The 53,000 square foot center housed administrative and police services. In 2019, police services moved to their new state of the art police station. Soon City Hall will encompass a 13,000 square foot Cultural Arts Center in the former space occupied by the police station. The space will serve as a multi-use facility that affords cultural, educational and social opportunities for the community. The Cultural Arts Center will include an art gallery, a Black Box theater, multi-purpose art and music classrooms, an indoor/outdoor art yard, a dance studio, and more. The Civic Center also serves as a popular regional meeting center and is the site for both permanent and temporary expositions sponsored by the Dublin Arts Collective.

In addition to the Civic Center, the City of Dublin offers a wide variety of amenities including the brand new Don Biddle Community Park, award-winning Emerald Glen Park, Dublin Sports Grounds, Dublin Swim Center, Shannon Park, Dublin Senior Center, Dublin Library, Shannon Community Center, and Fallon Sports Park, in addition to a number of neighborhood parks. Open space can be found in Dougherty Hills Park, Martin Canyon Creek Trails, and Dublin Hills Regional Park. The city’s history is preserved at the Dublin Heritage Center with the original Murray Schoolhouse, Old St. Raymond’s Church, and the Pioneer Cemetery.

Remembering
Dublin History

In 1835, Jose Maria Amador was granted 16,500 acres for his service as a Mexican soldier and in Mission San Jose where he was an administrator in the valley, which was named for him, Amador Valley. In 1852, Michael Murray and Jeremiah Fallon were Irish immigrants who purchased 982 acres from Amador in the Dublin area.

The original settlement was at the end of Donlon Way in Dublin where many of the original buildings exist to this day. These include the Murray Schoolhouse (established in 1856 with 50 pupils), and Green’s Store (opened in 1860), current home of the Dublin Church of Christ. The Pioneer Cemetery was formally established in 1859, and the Old St Raymond Church (built 1859), is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Another influential figure was James Witt Dougherty who purchased 10,000 acres from Amador and broke off from Dublin to form Dougherty Station, complete with its own post office. In addition to this large purchase from Amador, he also bought 7,000 acres from Francisco Alviso and his lands would include the Tassajara Valley, Dougherty Valley, and large swaths of the area between Dublin and Pleasanton. Dougherty’s family lived in Jose Maria Amador’s former adobe, until it collapsed by an earthquake.

From Dublin, people had to travel to Mission San Jose in order to attend church services. In 1859, Murray and Fallon donated four acres of land to accommodate a new catholic church at the crossroads. Unfortunately, during construction, a man named Tom Donlon fell from the roof during construction. He died and is buried next to the church established in what is now the Pioneer Cemetery.

Camp Parks was a major installation during World War II, commissioned in 1943 as home to the Navy Seebees. Adjacent to Camp Parks to the east was Camp Shoemaker and the U.S. Naval Hospital Shoemaker. The appearance of Shoemaker dramatically changed the small, quiet agriculture community to a busy vibrant part of the war effort.

Formally known as the Parks Reserve Forces Training Area, Camp Parks featured a huge paved parade ground and in 1945, it could assemble more than 20,000 men and hundreds of officers. Decommissioned in 1946, the adjacent Navy bases were called “Fleet City”.

The Navy leased the land to Alameda County and in 1947 the Santa Rita County Jail became operational. In 1951, Camp Parks was renamed Parks Air Force Base and has since been home to the Navy, Air Force and Army. Today, Parks Reserve Forces Training Area, commonly known as Camp Parks or PRFTA, hosts thousands of National Guard and Army Reserve Soldiers—and 94 Naval Reserve Seabees’ train at Camp Parks.

The War and the activity in the Dublin area opened the eyes of many who saw the opportunity for growth in the community. On Labor Day 1960, Kenneth Volk and Robert McLain began the sales program for their new development in Dublin called San Ramon Village which incorporated Dublin and south San Ramon. On November 3, 1960, 40 Mayflower moving vans led a caravan of families to Dublin that would be the first new residences of San Ramon Village. The first new homes were off Hillrose Dr. At the time, the population in Dublin was around 750 people. Within one year, the population grew to 2,670.

The Dublin Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1968 and was an unwavering advocate for Cityhood. Until Feb. 1, 1982, the city was an unincorporated area of Alameda County. Its recreation, fire, and sewer services were provided by the Valley Community Services District, now known as the Dublin San Ramon Services District. The first City Council, made up of Mayor Peter Snyder and Councilmembers Dave Burton, Pete Hegarty, Linda Jeffrey, and Paul Moffatt, approved Ordinance No. 1, which officially incorporated the city.

The 2020 census shows a Dublin population of 72,589, up from 46,063 in 2010. In 2013, Dublin was the second fastest-growing city in the State of California and 2019 census data showed Dublin as one of the fastest-growing cities in the country. Dublin has combined an outstanding business climate, stable political leadership and forward-thinking approach that has served it well during its history.

POLICE SERVICES

Since Dublin incorporated as a city in 1982, the Dublin Police Services have contracted with the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department; continuing a long tradition of professionalism and dedication reflected in Dublin’s low crime rate and safety. Sixty-two sworn officers serve the city in a number of specialized departments who offer cutting-edge professional safety measures.

Dublin Police Services provide police duties of enforcement, investigation and programs which include:

• Reader cameras and situational awareness cameras which are deployed throughout the city.

• Facilitation of the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) program to Dublin fifth graders.

• Holiday Crime Suppression Unit (HCSU) during the holiday season.

• Semi-Annual Drug Take-Back, Shredding & E-Waste Recycling event.

• National Night Out- where Members of Dublin Police meet with members of 23 different
neighborhoods in Dublin.

• Emergency preparedness, as coordinated with the City of Dublin

• Neighborhood Watch

•  Bicycle safety education and enforcement

• Youth and Citizens Academy

• Crime Tip Hotline

The Crime Prevention Unit’s purpose is to improve the quality of life by educating, maintaining and providing effective crime prevention programs from Neighborhood Watch to working with the merchant community. Dublin Police Services emphasizes communication and its officers and staff are available to speak to all community members to help keep the Dublin community safe.

FIRE SERVICES

Like the police services, the City of Dublin contracts services through the Alameda County Fire Department. Dublin is served by three fire stations strategically located throughout the city for maximum coverage.

In addition to initial response to their primary areas, all Dublin fire apparatus and other Alameda County Fire Department resources offer mutual aid with our neighboring cities of Pleasanton, Livermore and San Ramon. Utilizing an integrated response plan to provide exceptional response times in case of emergency, the local community has the best safety service in the Bay Area.

Specialized resources available to the City of Dublin include:

Senior Center

The Dublin Senior Center has been a focal point for senior activities since 1988 with the opening of a new center on Amador Valley Boulevard in 2005. Working cooperatively with other agencies (Alameda County Public Health Department, Health, Insurance Counseling & Advocacy Program, Kaiser Permanente, and the Dublin Senior Foundation) the center provides a wide variety of social, educational, and recreational programs that engage the mind, body and spirit.

The center promotes healthy lifestyles for all fitness levels. For those who may no longer be able to travel independently, the Trips, Tours & Travel Program opens a whole new world of discovery and life-long learning. Over the years, center staff, volunteers and participants have created a warm, welcoming atmosphere complete with daily home-cooked meals.

EDUCATION

The Dublin Unified School District (7471 Larkdale Avenue, Dublin, Ca. 94568 – telephone 925-828-2552) has 12,896 students and has grown over 100 percent since 2011, among the highest rate of growth in California. The public school system has 13 total schools including 7 elementary, two middle schools, one K-8, comprehensive high school and a continuation school. The District is currently constructing its second comprehensive high school, Emerald High which is scheduled to be open for students in 2024.

Among many awards and designations throughout the entire school district, Dublin High School and Fallon Middle School were named California Distinguished Schools in 2019 and J.M. Amador Elementary was named in 2020. Dublin High School has been ranked in the top 20 percent academically in California based on overall test scores during the 2018-2019 school year. With a 97 percent graduation rate, U.S. and World Report gave Dublin High School an overall score of 94.24/100 in its national rankings.

The Dublin Unified School District offers a broad range of academic and extracurricular programs. Dublin has outstanding facilities and programs such as world-class theater, state-of the art athletic facilities and gymnasium. The Dublin Athletic Boosters support a wide range of athletic activities for the student-athletes at Dublin High. School activities are supported by Dublin Partners in Education, founded in 1992 to develop partnerships between local businesses and the schools. The District supports over 120 clubs and organizations reflecting a wide range of interests ranging from the DHS Computer and Science Business Club and the DHS Cricket Club to Club Bigfoot and the DHS Young Historians. There is a group and activity for every student in the Dublin Unified School District.

Dublin offers a variety of outstanding private institutions for education. The Quarry Lane School is a college preparatory institution and is ranked #4 in California for K-12 schools. St. Raymond School offers a K-8 education and is ranked in the top 20% of schools (11557 Shannon Avenue, Dublin, Ca. 94568 – telephone 925-574-7424) and Valley Christian Schools K-12 is ranked in the top 10% of schools in California (7500 Inspiration Drive, Dublin, Ca. 94568 – telephone 925-560-6262).

Dublin’s newest school, Stratford School Dublin, offers preschool thru 5th grade education. (6665 Amador Plaza Rd. Dublin, CA 94568 telephone 925-369-7088).

Las Positas Community College (3000 Campus Hill Drive, Livermore, Ca. 94550 – telephone 925-424-1000) located 10 minutes east in Livermore. Las Positas College currently enrolls nearly 8,500 day and evening students. The college offers a curriculum for students seeking career preparation, transfer to a four-year college or university, or personal enrichment. The college provides university transfer classes, retraining classes for those in need of employment or career advancement, a first-time educational opportunity for many adults, enrichment classes for those seeking a broader perspective, and career and technical training for those entering the technical and paraprofessional work force. Las Positas College excels in helping students transfer to the University of California system, the California State University system, and other four-year institutions.

Students who come to the college can choose any of 24 occupational associate degrees, 17 transfer associate degrees, and 44 certificate programs. In addition, the college offers community education courses geared toward personal development and cultural enrichment. Las Positas College also features robust performing arts and athletics programs for the benefit of students and the local community.

Over 2,100 companies call Dublin home. Business start-ups are on the rise, from small businesses to entrepreneurs, to large corporate tenants and Fortune 500 companies. With Dublin’s proximity to Silicon Valley and a skilled workforce, there is a concentration on the technology sector and emphasis on innovation.

Retail is alive and active for jobs and commerce, with examples seen in locations that include:

Downtown Dublin – Eateries such as Frankie Johnny Luigi’s; Yafa Hummus, Hana Japan, Outback SteakHouse, Amalfi Mediterranean, Prima Vini and Rigatoni’s show the diverse offerings in Downtown Dublin.

STANFORD HEALTH CARE TRI-VALLEY

Introducing a New Name: Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley.

In July 2022, Stanford Health Care – ValleyCare changed its name to Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley to better align within Stanford Medicine and create a stronger, more seamless brand experience for patients and communities.

The new name represents the next step in the evolution of health care, connecting the research, educational, and clinical expertise of Stanford Medicine to the treasured legacy of ValleyCare and the deep connection to the communities of the Tri-Valley region and beyond.

Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley provides high-quality care rooted in science and compassion to support the health and well-being of its community. The hospital is part of Stanford Medicine which encompasses the Stanford School of Medicine and care delivery systems for all ages and health needs. Stanford Medicine is an integrated academic health system comprising the Stanford School of Medicine for adult and pediatric health care delivery systems. Together, they harness the full potential of biomedicine through collaborative research, education and clinical care for patients.

Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley’s predecessor, ValleyCare, was established in 1961, and over the years has grown from a small community hospital into a comprehensive health system with medical facilities in Livermore, Pleasanton and Dublin. Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley has also set a benchmark by consistently delivering high quality health care with compassion for the individual.

Since its beginning, Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley has remained not-for-profit, which means any earnings go right back into the health system in new programs and services, equipment and facilities. Kaiser Permanente

Kaiser has been an integral part of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties for over 60 years. In 2019, Kaiser officially joined the Dublin community when they opened the Dublin Medical Offices and Cancer Center. The Cancer Center adds to the wide network of primary care and specialist physicians, hospitals, medical offices, pharmacies and integration with a broad range of individual, small-and large-business groups, employers and health care plans.

The new Dublin Kaiser site is the first building constructed on a 58-acre site. The new facility will serve as a hub for what will eventually be a major medical campus. It offers access to specialty services for the local community, including urgent care, cancer treatment, laboratory and pharmacy space, and advanced imaging — all in one location.

Locally, Kaiser Permanente has over 200,000 members in Dublin and neighboring cities in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. In addition to the Dublin facility, area residents are also served by locations in neighboring Pleasanton and Livermore.

Transportation

The City of Dublin has excellent public transit options.

Dublin boasts two BART stations completing the link to the regional transit system. The stations are located in the I-580 median and run trains during peak commute periods every fifteen minutes, with no transfers necessary to journey to or from San Francisco.

Altamont Corridor Express (ACE) Rail service provides commuter service from Stockton to San Jose through Pleasanton in the a.m. and reverse direction in the p.m. hours. Four trains run on the weekdays only and for special events. The Pleasanton station is located at 4950 Pleasanton Avenue across from the main entrance to the Alameda County Fairgrounds.

WHEELS Bus Service provides service throughout Dublin, Pleasanton and Livermore and easily connects to BART and ACE Rail train services. WHEELS routes are available for middle and high school students, as well as free service for Las Positas students. WHEELS service is also available on Saturdays and Sundays on selected routes. WHEELS route and schedule information is available at 925-455-7500 or at www.wheelsbus.com.

WHEELS also operates Dial-A-Ride par transit service for ADA eligible citizens. To obtain an application, call 925-455-7500.

Coming soon, ValleyLink Rail will connect ACE Rail and BART and will operate on self-produced green hydrogen.
