As the Chamber enters its 75th anniversary year, it’s important to reflect not just on the ‘good old days’ but to take a look at the future of our community.

While so much has changed these past few years, one thing remained the same – the desire to gather as a community. A new and reinvigorated Downtown is under construction right now along Hartz Avenue in Danville. The Downtown Master Plan Catalyst Project is the product of 30 years of careful planning in the Town of Danville. It will help make our downtown more walkable, safe and pedestrian friendly. There are also opportunities to recreate and appreciate art and culture.

It’s exciting to think about the holidays and the wonder and merriment Danville families will feel as we plan the Lighting of the Old Oak Tree on November 29, with our new downtown!

The Chamber has two very exciting events coming to you in August and September that are unique to 2024.

On Thursday, August 22, our Chamber will host the Tri-Valley Mayor’s Summit Luncheon. This annual event is one of the most popular in the Tri-Valley Region. It will be our honor to host Mayors from the five Tri-Valley Cities for a uniquely inspired luncheon and panel discussion. The program features tours of the Blackhawk Museum for our sponsors. On Wednesday, September 18, the Chamber will host its 75th Anniversary Dinner & Community Awards. Our “Denim & Diamonds” theme was so popular last year that we’re re-creating this event at Blackhawk Country Club. Once again, public voting will be available to vote for your favorite businesses in several categories as well as our employee of the year and non-profit of the year. Learn more here.

We are excited this year to launch a major education and training initiative. Our Women’s Enterprise Initiative, is designed to help new and established women business owners. These sessions are open to all and designed to teach tangible skills that will help businesses grow and thrive in the Danville Area.

We enjoy helping our members succeed. Join us for an upcoming ribbon-cutting to meet new business owners or drop by one of our Monthly Mixers to meet new friends and renew old friendships and business contacts.

Mayors’ Summit Luncheon

Thursday, August 22nd

The Tri-Valley Chamber of Commerce Alliance is an organization representing the Chambers of Commerce from the Danville Area, San Ramon, Dublin, Pleasanton and the Livermore Valley.

Annually, we host the Tri-Valley Mayor’s Summit, featuring the Mayors of the five cities that make up the Tri-Valley Region. This year’s moderator is The Honorable Catharine Baker.

We are honored to host Mayor Karen Stepper (Danville), Mayor Dave Hudson (San Ramon), Mayor Karla Brown (Pleasanton), Mayor Mike McCorriston (Dublin) and Mayor John Marchand (Livermore), who will participate in a panel discussion on issues impacting our region.

This year, we have an amazing event planned at the Blackhawk Museum. We are delighted to be working for the very first time with West Coast Events Group, who has curated a culinary adventure - “A Taste of Italy” - inspired and created by Stewart Beatty, Executive Chef at the famed Postino Restaurant.

Sponsors at the Angel Investor, Community Impact and California Gold Rush levels will be treated to private tours, conducted by Danville Area Chamber of Commerce Board Member David Behring, whose family built the Blackhawk Museum.

Founded with a dedication to celebrating the elegance, craftsmanship, and history inherent in the legacy of the automobile, the Museum has significantly expanded its scope beyond the captivating display of classic and rare automobiles.

The Museum includes not only a unique collection of Classic Cars, but also has exhibits entitled the Art of Africa, the Spirit of the Old West, Into China, The World of Nature, and Pat’s Compacts.

Celebrate our Chamber - Denim & Diamonds Community Awards & 75th Anniversary Dinner

This year, the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce entered its 75th anniversary year.

Founded on January 6, 1949, the Chamber was incorporated by the San Ramon Valley Boosters as the “Danville Chamber of Commerce.”

The filing fee was $11.80, and the motto our founders chose was “An Association of Businessmen Organized to Boost California’s Beautiful San Ramon Valley.”

How ironic it is that today, over a two-year period, 93 of 126 new Chamber members are women-owned businesses, representative of the diversity of the economy in the Danville Area and greater San Ramon Valley region.

In 2013, the Danville Chamber of Commerce merged with the Alamo Chamber of Commerce to become the “Danville Area Chamber of Commerce”. Together with businesses in Blackhawk, Diablo, the Tassajara Valley, and neighboring communities, we have become the second largest Chamber in the Tri-Valley, with nearly 500 members.

If you’re in the area, stop by the Chamber Office to see a history of former Board Chairs, dating back to 1948. Each Chamber Board Chair has a commemorative name plate honoring their tenure as Chair.

Spring Sip & Stroll

The Chamber hosted its 19th Annual Spring Sip & Stroll in Historic Downtown Danville & Danville Livery on May 9th, featuring 39 businesses paired with new and established boutique wineries from Danville, the Livermore Valley and the Napa Valley. We appreciate the nearly 500 attendees who visited our community.

Summer Arts Fling

Friday, June 21, 2024

The Chamber worked with local Downtown businesses with support from the Town of Danville for our Summer Arts Fling on June 21st. Featured were 16 local artists at 14 business locations and a chance for the community to take a glimpse at the California People & Places exhibit at Village Theatre & Arts Gallery.

The Chamber is teaming up with the Town of Danville to create a new event – the Danville Oktoberfest, taking place on Sunday, October 20, 2024, in Downtown Danville

The fun begins on Railroad Avenue, in
the parking lot next to the Museum of the San Ramon Valley, located at 205
Railroad Avenue, in the heart of Downtown Danville.

The event will feature a walking beer and wine garden, traditional favorites and activities for the kids.

Women’s Enterprise Initiative

The Women’s Enterprise Initiative is a transformative leadership and mentoring program created by the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce. The focus of the initiative in 2024 is to mentor, educate and train women business owners and their employees on topics relevant to their business, including financial planning, project management, marketing, community service and business governance.

Our goal is for female entrepreneurs and professionals to gain new skills and connections with community leaders and peers that enable them to thrive in their industries and serve as driving forces of economic growth and diversity in our region.

We embrace inclusivity, welcoming participants of all genders, while specifically championing diverse female entrepreneurs in growth industries such as technology, retail, service, hospitality, restaurant, health, wellness, finance and professional services.

The Danville Area Chamber of Commerce Women’s Enterprise Initiative is fiscally sponsored by Three Valleys Community Foundation (3VCF), a 501(c)(3) organization (Tax ID #87-1782380).

ADVOCACY

The Danville Area Chamber of Commerce believes that economic vitality and community engagement go hand in hand. This year, we’ve been more engaged than ever advocating for smart policies that help businesses on the State, County, and local levels.

In March of this year, President & CEO Judy Lloyd joined Sandra Floyd, a California Chamber of Commerce Board Member, as leadership of the Small Business Policy Council, a pivotal initiative designed to amplify the voices of small businesses in the State Capitol.

The Council, comprised of 30 members, includes 15 local chamber CEOs and 15 CAL Chamber members, aims to ensure that the needs and priorities of small businesses are at the forefront of legislative discussions.

We’re working together to ensure that small businesses continue to be a driving force in our economy and a cornerstone of the California dream. This is especially important as our small businesses in Danville deal with higher costs of goods and services, supply chain issues, employee recruitment and retention and retail theft.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS

We continue to work with County Supervisor Candace Andersen, East Bay EDA and the Contra Costa Workforce Development Board on economic vitality. Additionally, we are a proud partner with Visit Tri-Valley, co-hosting the annual Taste Tri-Valley Restaurant Week and our Spring Sip & Stroll. We partner regularly with the Town of Danville on programs aimed to increase visibility and foot traffic for local businesses.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH – YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH

In 2022, the business community partnered with local non-profit and government organizations focused on youth mental health, conducting two trainings at the San Ramon Valley Unified School District.

Our first program, called “The Fentanyl Crisis – How to Save A Life”, featured local non-profits focused on drug addiction and counseling. Our highlight reel is here.

In the fall, we offered or second program, “Teen Stress – It’s Real”, featuring real-life players from I Can Do That! Performing Arts and Danville’s Poet Laureate and Youth Poet Laureate. Our highlight reel is here.

In late 2023, the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce & Three Valleys Community Foundation awarded Youth Mental Health Grants of $44,133 to Local Non-Profits in the Danville Area and Greater San Ramon Valley. Among the recipients were Discovery Counseling Center, Teen Esteem+ and the National Coalition Against Prescription Drug Abuse.

COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS

Our 2024 College Scholarship Program awarded college scholarships to six deserving students from Monte Vista High School, San Ramon Valley High School and California High School. We are proud of our members for pitching in to support the College Scholarship Program.
