The Fremont Union High School District is one of the most respected districts in the State of California and ranks as one of the highest performing high school districts in the state.

The highest standards of teaching and learning, along with accountability for student achievement, are the cornerstones of the district’s outstanding high schools: Cupertino, Fremont, Homestead, Lynbrook and Monta Vista. The schools continuously hold top rankings throughout the nation, garnering awards and recognition based on the achievement of students, programs designed to support student achievement and the prowess of their world-class teachers. The reputation of the schools is often an attraction for families to move into the district.

The Fremont Union High School District serves 10,245 students in a 42 square mile area covering all of the City of Cupertino, most of the city of Sunnyvale and portions of the cities of San Jose, Los Altos, Saratoga and Santa Clara. With the support of its educators, parents and community members, the district strives to make its high schools the very best academic environment for all students who reside within its attendance boundaries.

The FUHSD Adult School program offers classes in citizenship, English as a Second Language, high school diploma and parent education, as well as community interest classes and an extensive senior adult program. The Adult School program averages over 400 classes per quarter with a yearly enrollment of over 22,000 students.

Recreation & Community Services Department

Cupertino offers many beautiful parks for your enjoyment, from large areas with expansive lawns to smaller neighborhood parks. All of our parks offer family picnic areas, which are available on a first-come, first-served basis. A few of our parks, including Linda Vista, Memorial, and Portal, offer larger picnic/barbecue areas that can be reserved for bigger groups. All reservations must be made in person at the Quinlan Community Center at 10185 N. Stelling Rd, Cupertino. Reservation hours are: Monday−Thursday from 8:00 am.−10:00 pm., Friday from 8:00 am.−5:00 pm., and Saturday from 8:30 am.−4:30 pm. McClellan Ranch Preserve

Designated a nature and rural preserve in 1976, this land along Stevens Creek is a place where the community can enjoy and learn about the areas rich natural and cultural history. Visitors can spot deer, bobcats, Red-shouldered Hawks, California Quail, and many other species of wildlife as they walk the trails. A number of buildings related to the site’s agricultural past are here including a large barn dating back to the 1940s, the Baer Blacksmith Shop and the Enoch Parish Tank House. (The latter two buildings were moved to the site from their original locations in Cupertino.) Today the Cupertino Recreation & Community Services Department offers nature and environmental education programs for the groups and individuals, and welcomes the public to visit the Jr. Nature Museum on Fridays, 3:00−5:00 pm. and Saturdays, 11:00 am.−3:00 pm. to meet resident animals including lizards, turtles, snakes, mice and a variety of insects. A new environmental education center will open in 2015. Other community organizations are active at the site. Rolling Hills 4H Club offer goat, poultry, swine, mini horse and beekeeping projects to area youths; Santa Clara Valley Audubon has its offices and nature shop in the old ranch house; Friends of Stevens Creek Trail also has an office at the site; Acterra offers opportunities for volunteers to participate in habitat restoration and water quality monitoring projects; and Master Gardeners of Santa Clara County run a demonstration garden plot in the Cupertino Community Garden located in the preserve.

Memorial Park

This popular 28-acre park includes acres of lawn that are ideal for family picnics, a gazebo overlooking our beautiful pond, an amphitheatre, a lighted softball field, and six lighted tennis courts. It is centrally located, being adjacent to the Cupertino Senior Center, Quinlan Community Center, and Cupertino Sports Center. There is also a reservable picnic/ barbecue area that accommodates 113 people. There are many additional family picnic areas available on a first-come, first-served basis. Memorial Park also houses the Cupertino Veterans Memorial which honors our local veterans.

Cali Mill Plaza

This 1-acre park features a stainless steel sculpture, two interactive fountains and themed gardens. The park has free wireless Internet access.

Creekside Park

This 13-acre park features family picnic areas, half-court basketball, two playground areas, three tournament-quality soccer fields, and a pedestrian/bicycle bridge over the Calabazas Creek. In addition, an 800-sq. ft. community room can be reserved for meetings or parties. Please reserve in person at the Quinlan Community Center, 10185 N. Stelling Rd., Cupertino. Creekside Park is open daylight hours to one hour after sunset.

Blackberry Farm

Blackberry Farm is open May thru October all weekends; Picnic sites: 10:00 am. to 6:00 pm., Pools: 10:00 am. to 5:30 pm., closed Memorial Day; June-July, open every day except Monday; Picnic sites: 10:00 am. to 7:00 pm., Pools 10:00 am. to 7:00 pm.; and August open every day except Monday; Picnic sites: 10:00 am. to 7:00 pm.; Pools: 10:00 am. to 7:00 pm.; Picnic sites: 10:00 am. to 6:00 pm.; September, Picnic sites: 10 am. to 6:00 pm.; Pools: 10:00 am. to 5:30 pm.; closed Labor day. Franco Park

The City of Cupertino celebrated the opening of our newest park, Franco Park, with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, January 22, 2011. Franco Park is a 0.61 acre neighborhood park which includes picnic tables and seating benches throughout, as well as playground equipment. Franco Park is open daylight hours to one hour after sunset.

Portal Park

This is a 3.8-acre site that includes a small recreation building, a reservable picnic/barbecue area for 80, play equipment, and family picnic areas. Portal Park is open daylight hours to one hour after sunset.

This is a 5-acre park with two soccer fields, a half-basketball court, and play equipment for pre-school and elementary children. Hoover Park is open daylight hours to one hour after sunset.

Jollyman Park

This is an 11.5-acre park with a partially lighted soccer field, baseball field, play equipment, and picnic areas. Jollyman Park is open daylight hours to one hour after sunset.

Linda Vista Park

This is an 11-acre site that includes a reservable picnic/barbecue area for 136, two play equipment areas (pre-school and elementary), a fitness station, as well as a large turf area. Monta Vista Park

This is a 6.2-acre park with a 10,000 sq ft. recreation center, two tennis courts, play fields, play equipment, and family picnic areas. Monta Vista Park is open daylight hours to one hour after sunset.

Somerset Square Park

This 1.7-acre site includes a half-basketball court, a volleyball court, family picnic areas, and children’s play equipment. Somerset Square Park is open daylight hours to one hour after sunset.

Sterling Barnhart Park

This 0.6-acre neighborhood park features a small sport court, a play structure with slides, a swing set with interchangeable swings for varying ages, chessboard tables, grassy area, and picnic tables. Sterling-Barnhart Park is open daylight hours to one hour after sunset.

Three Oaks Park

This is a 3.1-acre neighborhood park with play equipment and family picnic areas. Three Oaks Park is open daylight hours to one hour after sunset.

Varian Park

Wilson Park

Mary Avenue - Dog Park

Teen Center

The Cupertino Teen Center is open to teens in 6th − 12th grades. Residents of Cupertino and Cupertino Sports Center members attend for free. Non-residents must pay a $5/day use fee, or can purchase a 10 day pass for $40 at Quinlan Community Center. Teens can take part in daily activities or just hang out and enjoy being with friends while in a supervised and fun environment. The facility includes a computer lab, pool table, foosball, pinball machine, ping pong, XBox 360 with Kinect, Wii, two flat screen T.V.’s, movies, games, and a kitchenette. Becoming the 13th city in Santa Clara County in 1955, Cupertino gained official status after the incorporation of the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce on April 16, 1954, with attorney Boris Stanley providing aid. The California History Center and Foundation is located on the De Anza College campus. The center has published 37 volumes on California history and has a changing exhibit program. Veterans Memorial

Cupertino Veterans Memorial located in Memorial Park honors all veterans and active duty military. Many Cupertino citizens have stopped by the memorial since the initial dedication in 2007 to remember all those who have served and made sacrifices so that we can enjoy our freedoms every day. There is a very moving Veterans Day Ceremony every year on November 11th starting at 11 am. The two soldiers represented are Cupertino’s own Matthew Axelson, and James Suh, two Navy SEAL’s who died in 2005 fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan during Operation Red Wing.
