The Clinton Chamber welcomes you to Clinton!

The Clinton Chamber of Commerce is an organization of businesses and individuals devoted to promoting economic and community development and enhancing the quality of life in the city.

We partner with many companies, organizations, and individuals to make Clinton a better place to live, and in turn, a better place to do business.

Our Community Profile and Business Directory is produced to give visitors and citizens an introduction to our city, and we hope that it serves as a one-stop information source for both new and longtime residents. It is filled with details about our Chamber programs, businesses, city information, educational facilities, and activities that make Clinton a wonderful place to live, work, and play!

As a city, we are fortunate to have many great educational resources from early education to the collegiate level, a growing industrial area that provides jobs, great parks and recreation, a charming, historic Olde Towne full of shops and restaurants, and a variety of other businesses to meet your needs.

Even though we have over 28,000 residents, Clinton still has small town hospitality and charm that cannot be replicated.

As a lifelong Clintonian, I am thankful for Clinton and what it has offered me personally throughout the years. I’ve been through the public education system, attended Mississippi College, been a brick-and-mortar business owner, and now am raising my family in the same town that has given me so much.

I am excited to see what 2024 brings as we continue to develop our city and the large and small businesses that make it unique. The board of directors, my staff, and I have great ideas to continue and expand upon what has been set in place previously.

About the Chamber

The Clinton Chamber is organized for the purpose of advancing the commercial, industrial, civic, and general interest of the city of Clinton and its trade area. With this mission as its top priority, the Clinton Chamber exists to serve, protect, and promote existing businesses and attract new ones while improving the quality of life in Clinton.

Made up of businesses and individuals dedicated to promoting economic and community development, the Chamber as an organization unites people for the enhancement of the quality of life in our city. Committed to providing events that promote synergy among businesses, as well as create a stronger sense of community, the Clinton Chamber’s goal is to provide networking and civic engagement opportunities in addition to further enhancing the community excitement. Educational and informational seminars are designed to strengthen and expand the business climate in Clinton. Whether it is our yearly Clinton Chamber Christmas Parade, Annual Chamber Gala or Leadership Clinton program, the Clinton Chamber of Commerce is devoted to providing a pro-business climate in Clinton.

By investing in our community, Chamber members have unique opportunities to promote their businesses while also enhancing our city’s civic engagement. Through the Chamber’s community projects and events, member organizations connect with people and build relationships. To nurture Clinton’s business environment, the Clinton Chamber also offers its members benefits and resources aimed to foster organized partnerships and growth. Additionally, members of the Clinton Chamber have a voice in our community. Through feedback, committees, suggestions and initiatives, our Chamber members are making a difference and impact the economic direction of our city.

LEADERSHIP CLINTON

Leadership Clinton is a comprehensive educational program held every 2 years and is designed to train future community leaders in areas of quality-of-life issues, community development, city government, education systems and local history. Team projects are also completed that contribute to our city. The 2023 Leadership Clinton class completed a project for the Clinton Community Nature Center that will benefit the community.

Clinton Chamber Ambassadors

The Chamber Ambassadors are a group of professional volunteers from varied backgrounds who, while representing their individual businesses, act as liaisons between the Chamber and its members. They actively encourage participation by Chamber members, welcome new members, increase membership by contacting new businesses, plan with the Chamber Board for new member orientation, become more informed about Clinton and the Chamber, and represent the Chamber at functions.

Chamber Ambassador Luncheons are held monthly to offer participants a time to meet, network, and exchange vital information about our community and its business environment. This volunteer group is vital to the success of the Chamber and its mission.

Clinton Chamber Youth Leadership

Every year, the Chamber has the honor to select area high school juniors and seniors to participate in the Clinton Chamber Youth Leadership (CCYL) Program, a free youth program that aims to engage and challenge local students as they volunteer and learn about the city of Clinton and the business community that awaits them after graduation.

This varied group of students from area high schools gain experiences in a familiar classroom-style setting at their monthly meetings while being treated as emerging, accountable adults. All student participants learn about personal leadership styles, business etiquette, the history of our city, and entrepreneurship fundamentals, as well as participate in numerous community service activities throughout the year.

PARTNERS FOR PROGRESS

Partners for Progress is a task force that focuses on the workforce needs of our business community and engages our community partners to facilitate development initiatives to fill these needs. From job fairs to offering opportunities to our businesses to post jobs, the Chamber encourages our business community by stepping forward together.

SHOP LOCAL

Whether you are a Clinton resident or a visitor to the city for a few hours on a weekend, there are many shopping opportunities that appeal to a variety of interests in our town and the Clinton Chamber takes the “Shop Local” mission seriously.

Holiday Happening: Held every year on the second Sunday in November from 1 to 5 p.m., this retail event gives shoppers an extra day on the weekend to shop and also provides a special opportunity for local retailers to display their festive holiday decor and gift items. This is a great event to kick off the holidays in Clinton, and participating businesses often offer unique discounts to visitors during this wonderful yearly shopping time.

Small Business Saturday: The Saturday after Thanksgiving is a day dedicated to supporting local small businesses and strengthening and celebrating communities across the country. Created by American Express, Small Business Saturday serves as a ceremonial kickoff to the holiday shopping season across the United States. The Chamber serves as a “Neighborhood Champion” each year for our member businesses to remind the community to Shop Small - Shop Local!

12 Days of Christmas Giveaways: One of the more interactive and popular Shop Local initiatives the Chamber hosts is our 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways. Every year, the beginning of December gives Chamber Facebook followers the chance to win special prizes from local small businesses.

In addition to these events, the Clinton Chamber supports our local businesses through various events and promotions throughout the year. Maximizing the advertising impacts of our local businesses, the Chamber utilizes our social media channels regularly to spread the word about great places to shop, eat, stay, and visit.

Revamped in 2023, the Annual Chamber Gala invites its entire membership and interested community parties to join us in reviewing the past year and all our successful programs, events, and initiatives.

This re-invention of this yearly event included a location change to The Reed House at Live Oaks and a networking cocktail hour.

In additional to the chamber and community updates, this joyous event is the time where the Clinton Chamber presents a number of awards to recognize special individuals and businesses that have made exceptional contributions to our community over the past year. Main Street Clinton also honors individuals and businesses during the Annual Chamber Gala each year.

Annual Luncheons

The Clinton Chamber is proud to host two luncheons each year for our community: the Education Appreciation Luncheon in the spring and the Public Service Appreciation Luncheon in the fall. These luncheons, open to the community as well as Chamber members, are a great opportunity to network with area company and organization leaders and to honor special members of our community for excellence in their areas of specialty: Police, Firefighter, City Employee, and Educators.

Red Brick Brew

Red Brick Brew, sponsored by May & Company, is an AHA sanctioned, BJCP registered competition that is part of the Red Brick Roads Music & Arts Festival. Homebrewers from all over the state submit their brews for judging by both BJCP official judges and the general public.

In 2023, 49 brews were submitted for judging. Awards include: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each category, Sponsor’s Pick, Best of Show (1st, 2nd, and 3rd), and People’s Choice. The 1st place Best of Show winner will have their beer brewed in a small batch by Fertile Ground Beer Co. Best of Show 2022 winner was Chris Thompson with his White IPA, Slippery Slope.

Red Brick Roads

The Clinton Chamber and Main Street Clinton joined forces for the 7th annual Red Brick Roads Music & Arts Festival on August 25-26, 2023. The festival spotlights talented regional artists, singers, songwriters, and bands, while also promoting our local businesses and artists. In 2023, this festival attracted over 4,000 guests to Clinton’s quaint downtown, where they enjoyed a perfect setting for good music, good food and drinks, and good times.

Clinton Networking Events

Throughout the year, the Chamber provides opportunities for members to network, have some fun together, and learn new skills. These events allow local businesses to host a come-and-go networking event to showcase their businesses’ specialties to other business owners in the community. Members have hosted coffee, barre classes, and more to engage the Clinton community.

Back to the Bricks

Held every August, Back to the Bricks is an official Mississippi College “Welcome Week” event organized and sponsored by the Clinton Chamber and Main Street, along with the City of Clinton. Over 30 businesses set up on MC’s campus with games, drawings and prizes as new students enjoy dinner, music, and fellowship while getting acquainted with their new home: Clinton.

Ribbon Cuttings

Whenever a new business opens in Clinton and joins the Chamber, we have the distinguished honor to present them officially to our community with a special ribbon cutting ceremony. These ceremonies are open to the public and offer residents and our Chamber members the chance to welcome our new business and network with other local professionals.

At times, the Clinton Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting for an already established member to celebrate a business expansion, re-branding, additional product lines, or other great improvement. Regardless of whether the business is young or old, the Chamber’s ribbon cuttings are always a fun celebration of our community’s progress.

The Clinton Chamber Christmas Parade

The Clinton Chamber Christmas Parade, held on the first Saturday of December for the last 50 years, is an annual festive highlight the Chamber organizes for our city. Each year our city and businesses join with schools, clubs, and organizations to parade our streets with floats, fire trucks, bands, marchers, cars, lots of candy, and of course, Santa. For many, the Clinton Chamber Christmas Parade signifies the start of the Christmas season and is one of our best-attended events to kick off Clinton’s holiday activities.

In 2023, the Clinton Chamber Christmas Parade theme was “A Tacky Clinton Christmas,” and participants were encouraged to decorate their floats with tacky, festive, and kitschy decor. Along with lots of candy, last year’s parade featured seasonal flair and heartwarming displays of holiday memories.

By far one of the most popular events each year, the Clinton Chamber Christmas Parade touches most households in Clinton. Adults and children are either in the parade, working diligently as volunteers to help the event run smoothly, or up early to claim a viewing spot along the parade route as they eagerly await its start every December. Year after year, our community shows up for this feel-good event and the festive fun the parade imparts to everyone involved. If there’s an event in Clinton not to miss, it’s certainly this annual holiday favorite!

Yule Run Clinton

In December 2023, early risers had the opportunity to dash through Clinton’s decorated downtown before running the Clinton Boulevard route of the annual Clinton Chamber Christmas Parade by participating in the Chamber’s sixth annual Yule Run Clinton race event. Presented by Continental, Yule Run 2023 “A Tacky Clinton Christmas” was held both in person and virtually to allow for local Clinton residents to participate along with runners from all over the globe. The race was held bright and early and concluded before the start of the parade to allow local participants and their families to relax and enjoy the annual parade festivities, too.

Designed for all ages to participate, Yule Run Clinton is split into three race categories: 5K Walk, 5K Run, and 8k Run. All participants received a specially themed t-shirt, finisher medal and participant packet to commemorate the day’s holly-jolly fun.

Yule Run Clinton always adds another healthy, energizing dimension to the excitement surrounding the Clinton Chamber Christmas Parade for residents and visiting runners alike.

Clinton P arks and Recreation Department strives to improve the quality of life of the residents of Clinton through recreation and athletic opportunities.

The Parks and Recreation Department oversees the city’s eight parks, seven of which are community parks: Brighton Park, Lion’s Club Park, Town Spring Park, Kids Towne, Northside Park, Robinson Park, and Bark Park. Traceway Park is maintained as a premier athletic facility that enhances the quality of life for the citizens of Clinton to participate in youth and adult sports while also attracting local, regional, and national tournaments to Clinton.

The Department strives to provide quality time for families through recreation and special events such as the Family Fireworks Extravaganza every July 4th and the Haunting of Olde Towne (H.O.O.T.) for the kids at Lions Club Park in Downtown Clinton.

Therapeutic Recreation

The Therapeutic Recreation Department is focused solely on therapeutic recreation services for individuals with special needs and adults over the age of 50. Therapeutic Recreation is the purposeful use of recreation services and activities to meet the needs of individuals in six domains: physical, social, emotional, cognitive, spiritual, and leisure functioning. The Department of Therapeutic Recreation is unique to the City of Clinton in that it is the only municipal program throughout the state that focuses strictly on these two very important populations.

The Abilities program, for individuals age 6 and over with cognitive or developmental delays, offers year-round activities including Challenger League Sports – basketball, softball, bowling, kickball, and soccer – as well as other social and leisure-based programs. The department works with day programs in the city as well as with the Clinton Public School District to provide monthly programs in addition to regularly scheduled programs. Activities outside of sports include arts and crafts, fitness, leisure education, and special events.

The Living Young programs for adults over the age of 50 consist of a wide range of activities including social events, fitness classes, group tours, continuing education, crafts, and many other programs that focus on encouraging individuals to develop a healthy leisure lifestyle through participation.

Programs offered by the Therapeutic Recreation Department are held at the A.E. Wood Activity and Therapeutic Center (Wood Activity Center) located in the Boulevard District at 111 Clinton Blvd. The facility features an exercise station, billiards and other amenities for participants to enjoy at their leisure.

The Clinton Visitor Center has the look and authentic charm of an 1800’s style farmhouse once located along the Natchez Trace. Come sit in our rocking chairs on the porch, picnic on the beautifully landscaped grounds, or view artifacts and photographs in the museum room. The reception area includes a gift shop that showcases the work of local artisans with products ranging from art prints, jewelry, woodwork, ornaments, books, ceramics, Civil War collectibles, Natchez Trace memorabilia, and delicious Mississippi specialty food products.

Dr. Samuel Marshall Gore, internationally celebrated sculptor, has a masterpiece itled “Fallen Comrade” that salutes America’s military veterans. Gore’s rendering depicts two longtime Clinton friends – Marine Joe Albritton carrying the body of fellow Marine Homer Ainsworth from the battlefield during the Korean War.

An exhibit titled “The Evolution of the Trace,” crafted by local artist Lucky Osborne, is displayed in the museum room of the Visitor Center. The 13 dioramas depict the beginnings of the Trace, evolving into the Natchez Trace Parkway today. Also, quilt enthusiasts will enjoy seeing the “Life in Mississippi” quilt made by the Bookworm Stitchers.

The Little Free Library is a service to those who stop at the Visitor Center, as well. It is a “take a book, return a book” gathering place where you can share all types of literature. In its most basic form, the Little Free Library is a small wooden box that is mounted on a post and filled with books.

The music scene at the Visitor Center offers entertainment and fun covering all genres of music – folk, country, bluegrass, string band music, and gospel – with performances scheduled year-round. The Visitor Center conducts several quality events throughout the year that are both informative and fun for the entire family.

Olde Towne Depot

The Olde Towne Depot serves as a welcome center to Olde Towne for guests and a destination for history and rail-related programming. Designed as a replica of three different depot buildings that historically stood at the north end of Jefferson Street, the facility showcases the historic charm of the Clinton community. Visitors young and old alike will be captivated by the HO scale model train display, made possible by a gift from the Arts Council of Clinton. The display is enhanced by dioramas depicting scenes from Clinton’s history designed by artist Lucky Osborne. Osborne’s creations portray Clinton through the years, with scenes of both 1875 and 1929.

The Bell Tower holds a significant historical piece that came by way of the First United Methodist Church of Clinton. The bell was mounted on the first train that came through Clinton in 1840. In 1927, church ladies led by Mrs. Ann Powers Wood, wife of former Mayor A.E. Wood, obtained the bell from storage in Vicksburg with the help of railroad agent and Clintonian John Fox. The bell has hung in the church’s bell tower. Clinton historian and church trustee Dr. Walter Howell explained the Trustees’ decision to loan the bell for display at the Depot was grounded in the shared legacy of their church bell and the people of Clinton.

An inviting place for gatherings, the Olde Towne Depot offers Clinton a beautiful new venue for receptions, group meetings, showers and more. This ADA-compliant building is up to date with audiovisual technology and has a nicely equipped kitchen for food service. The Olde Towne Depot is also a stop on the City of Clinton’s Historical Online Tour. HOLT provides access to a web-based history tour moving participants between 22 markers placed throughout the city.

The Olde Towne Depot is also home to the Main Street Clinton offices. In addition to the events and exhibits, the Depot is used for Main Street Clinton activities and complementary events, particularly those that benefit community efforts. Olde Towne Markets

Held four times a year on the brick streets, these popular open-air markets feature local artists and craftsmen with an emphasis on unique and cultivated handmade goods.2024 dates are: April 13, May 11, October 12 and November 9.

ANnual Caterpillar Parade

Held in conjunction with the April 13 Olde Towne Market, this parade is a kick-off to the spring season. Children follow Calliope, the 50-foot caterpillar, through the streets of Olde Towne, along with the Caterpillar Queen and her Caterpillar Court.

Dinner & A Movie

An evening of good food and a great movie makes for a wonderful family outing, and you can’t find a better venue for an outdoor movie than the brick streets of Olde Towne Clinton. Held eight times - four in the spring, four in the fall – exact 2024 dates to be announced.

Fresh At Five

Join Main Street on the brick streets for the annual summer farmers market. One of the community’s favorite events, the Fresh at Five farmers markets are held every Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m., June through Aug. 2024.

Red Brick Roads Music And Arts Festival

Held annually, this partnership between Main Street Clinton and the Clinton Chamber is a two-day music and art festival featuring regional entertainers with a multigenerational appeal. This year’s dates to be announced.

Cruzin’ Clinton Car Show

Fast becoming one of central Mississippi’s premier car shows, Cruzin’ Clinton showcases antique, vintage and classic cars on the brick streets of Olde Towne. This year’s event will be held September 14, 2024.

Santa Claus Crawl

On December 5, sip cider in a keepsake mug while visiting the quaint shops of Olde Towne, followed by treats, door prizes, a visit from Santa, and live music.

Olde Towne After Dark Trivia

One of Main Street Clinton’s most popular events, trivia is held the third Thursday of the month January-November. Invite your smartest friends and join in the fun.

Olde Towne Uncorked

Main Street’s newest event was such a success, they decided to hold it twice a year. Olde Towne merchants stay open late for wine tasting and shopping. The event’s 2024 dates have not been announced, but look for one in April and October.
