City Mayorsquo;s Welcome<
Hello, I’m Patricia Thome, Mayor of the City of Cedarburg. Welcome to our remarkable community,
where history, charm, and a strong sense of togetherness come together to create a truly special place.
Whether you’re visiting or have called Cedarburg home for years, I’m delighted to share what
makes our city so unique.
Cedarburg is renowned for its beautifully preserved historic architecture and deep commitment to
honoring our past while planning for a vibrant future. Our Historic District, home to iconic landmarks
like the Cedar Creek Settlement and the Cedarburg Mill, reflects our dedication to preserving the
character that defines our city. From restoring cherished buildings to supporting local businesses, we
take great pride in balancing preservation with progress.
Our community is also fortunate to have the Cedarburg School District, one of the highest ranked
districts in Wisconsin. This achievement reflects the excellence of our schools, the dedication of our
educators, and the strong support from our families and residents. It’s another example of why
Cedarburg is such a wonderful place to live and raise a family.
In addition to its rich history and outstanding schools, Cedarburg offers a vibrant arts and cultural
scene, scenic parks, and family-friendly events throughout the year. Whether you’re exploring our
downtown shops, enjoying local dining, or attending one of our beloved festivals, there’s
something here for everyone.
Thank you for being part of what makes Cedarburg so extraordinary!
Sincerely,
Patricia Thome
Mayor of Cedarburg
Town Chairman’s Welcome
The Town of Cedarburg, a historically rural community of 6,000 people, is home to Wisconsin’s
last covered bridge. The town recognizes its rural charm and high quality of life while balancing growth
and progress. The town is approximately 25 square miles in size, providing room to stretch out.
Cedarburg is regularly near the top for lists such as Best Place to Raise a Family, public school
district rankings, low crime rates and an overall high standard of living. We take pride in our park
system, providing a regional sports complex for area youth recreation programs.
The town is also home to a series of massive parks for nature enthusiasts that feature mountain bike
trails and canoe launches. The combination of amenities, quality of life, low taxes and proximity to
downtown Milwaukee make the town an attractive place to call home. Welcome to the community!
Sincerely,
Dave Salvaggio
Chairman

Welcome to Cedarburg
Welcome to Cedarburg. A quaint little town filled with the unspoiled beauty of Wisconsin.
Located approximately 20 miles northwest of Milwaukee, and less than five miles from Lake Michigan,
Cedarburg is situated on the Cedar Creek, which gives the region the perfect blend of small town charm
and American history.
With a plethora of historic inns and museums, restaurants and specialty shops, Cedarburg is full of
items designed to draw residents and visitors alike into its borders.
Founded in the late 1800s, some of the limestone and cream city brick structures constructed in the
mid-19th century have stood the test of time. Many date back to the German and Irish immigrants who
found their way, and eventually their homes, near Cedar Creek.
Two local quarries provided Niagara limestone, which found its way into many of the churches, homes and
mills that survive today and now serve as home to an assortment of restaurants, shops, galleries and
other local attractions – all within walking distance of each other.
The Downtown Washington Avenue area and the Columbia Road Historic District are both listed on the
National Register of Historic Places. Together, the two areas boast more than 200 historically
significant structures.
Beyond the iconic quality of Cedarburg’s tree-lined streets, the town’s educational and
business opportunities abound.
The Cedarburg School District was recently ranked # 7 as Best School District and Districts with Best
Teachers, out of 371 Wisconsin school districts by Niche for 2023. Nationally, the district earned the
232nd ranking, out of 10,751 public schools.
The community offers fun, family orientated entertainment and recreation for residents and out-of-town
guests alike.
For example, the town’s calendar is full of festivals, ranging from the Winter Festival in
February to a Cedarburg Christmas from mid-November through December. The festivals help bring in more
than $1 million to the community each year.
To complete the storybook setting, Cedarburg is home to one of the last covered bridges in Wisconsin.
Once known as the “Red Bridge,” the structure is located in Covered Bridge Park.
Places of note to visit within Cedarburg include the Cedarburg Art Museum, Cedarburg History Museum,
the Cedarburg Cultural Center, the Cedarburg Performing Arts Center and the Wisconsin Museum of Quilts &
Fiber Arts. For those who visit during August, the Ozaukee County Fair – a staple since 1859
– provides a variety of fair entertainment including live music, truck and tractor pulls and of
course, livestock exhibitions and more.
With 12,400 people living in the community, Cedarburg offers a smalltown American lifestyle, yet has a
sound business environment. Long-range plans include brick-and-mortar expansion, along with protection
of the environment and the historical essence.
One key aspect driving business growth is the town’s business development loan, which provides
new and expanding businesses below-market rates and favorable terms for a variety of projects.
All of it comes together to provide residents with an appealing environment to live, work and play.

Our Schools Educating our Youth
The Cedarburg School District, located primarily in the city and town of Cedarburg in the heart of
Ozaukee County, serves over 3,000 students across five campuses. The district offers an education
designed to prepare students for college, careers, and beyond. The Public Policy Forum recognizes it as
one of the top districts in Wisconsin. In 2025, Niche ranked the Cedarburg School District #6 for Best
School District and #5 for Best Teachers out of 372 districts in the state. Within Ozaukee County, it
ranked #2, and nationally, it placed 200th out of 10,561 public schools. Additionally, all five campuses
received an A+ or A rating in the 2025 Niche rankings, with Cedarburg High School ranked #2 in the
county, #10 in the state, and #20 among Wisconsin STEM high schools.
“We are incredibly proud of all that our students and staff have achieved, and this recognition
reflects the hard work of our entire 4K-12 system,” said Superintendent Jeridon Clark. “Our
dedicated teachers, motivated students, and supportive parents create the ideal environment for
success.” District leaders work to ensure that the curriculum, facility assessments, and
enrollment capacity at each school are planned to accommodate the needs of both current students and
those anticipated within the next 10-20 years. Community partnerships help us achieve this goal. As part
of this effort, the district assembled a team of community leaders from various businesses who
collaborated with the staff to focus on Science, Tech. Education, Engineering, Art Design, and Math
(STEAM). Over several years, this team collaborated to redesign the high schools’ STEAM programs.
Their efforts helped to enhance areas such as engineering, art, metals, woodworking, and automotive to
provide students with an accessible and highly sought-after education in advanced manufacturing,
engineering, and art and design.
Additionally, the Cedarburg Education Foundation’s (CEF) goal of raising over $100,000 for
equipment and supplies for maker spaces at each school in the district supported past STEAM initiatives.
The new CEF initiative also funded the creation of a media lab and VR lab at the high school. The
district’s curriculum is crafted to offer standards-based, rigorous, age-appropriate, and relevant
learning experiences that align with the needs of 21st-century students. District leaders support using
technology that actively engages students in learning to enhance critical thinking, collaboration,
creativity, innovation, and real-world problem-solving. The goal is to equip Cedarburg students with the
skills needed to thrive in a global society.
In addition to its public school district, Cedarburg boasts top quality, award-winning private schools for students in preschool through eighth grade, including First Immanuel Lutheran School and St. Francis Borgia Catholic School. Cedarburg is also home to a Montessori school.

treatment outside of normal office hours. The clinic also provides treatment for a multitude of
specialties including the ability to have same-day care for broken bones and a baseline concussion test,
which helps parents and coaches make return-to-play decisions for student athletes.

the entire length of Ozaukee County. The trail extends approximately seven miles into Sheboygan County,
passing through Cedar Grove and Holland before merging with County Highway A in Oostburg. It eventually
meets up with the Brown Deer Recreational Trail at County Line Road in Mequon, which then connects with
Milwaukee County’s Oak Leaf Trail.
Beyond typical winter month activities that include cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, Cedar Creek
Park features a community skating rink. There’s even an opportunity to learn curling, provided by
the Milwaukee Curling Club.

the park.” The free Summer Sounds concerts feature nationally recognized artists performing a
plethora of genres in Cedar Creek Park every Friday night June to August.

Cedarburg, Inc. The festivals include the Winter Festival, the third full weekend in February, which
