On behalf of the Brewster Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, I am delighted to welcome you to our
vibrant home and business community. The Brewster Chamber has a proud tradition of supporting local

Letter From the Town of Southeast Board
It's for good reason that the Town of Southeast is known as 'The Hub of the Harlem Valley'. Located at
the crossroads of numerous highways, rural roadways (some dating back to colonial times) and Metro North
railroad, Southeast is perfectly situated to take advantage of both local convenience and life in the
country.
Founded in 1788 Southeast started as a farming town but has an even more fascinating past. Mining,
Borden condensed milk, the founding of the American circus and five beautiful New York City reservoirs
all figure prominently in Southeast's history. We even have the Southeast Museum to showcase our
interesting past. And a visit to Tilly Foster Farm reflects our agrarian roots. Looking to the future,
we have the Southeast Cultural Arts Coalition, which has been instrumental in bringing Old Town Hall
back to life. In doing so they have provided residents with wonderful theatrical and artistic
entertainment.
As a town, Southeast offers great recreational opportunities for families, children and seniors. Our
hub during the summer months is serene Lake Tonetta where you can swim, kayak or just relax. Close by
(and throughout the town) we have fantastic hiking. From the Maybrook and Putnam County Rail Trail to
the Diverting Reservoir trail just a stone's throw from the Village of Brewster.
Southeast residents experience small town ambiance with the benefit of great shopping, dining and excellent schools. Southeast is truly a town for all seasons!

Letter FROM THE BREWSTER MAYOR
As I begin my latest term, I am full of gratitude to the residents of the Village of Brewster for
entrusting me once again with the role of Mayor. We remain committed to building toward the future we
envision for the Village and welcome everyone’s support to help keep the spirit of the Village of
Brewster alive and well.
And it’s not only the people who live in our Village who believe in its success, but also members
of the surrounding business community who invest here and help us continue to thrive. Several new
businesses opened in the Village this year, including Alotta Empanada and the Bagel Train, both of which
have been very successful and are must-haves when passing through. Main Street has welcomed several new
beauty salons offering services ranging from nails to hair. Flower Hill Florist, also located on Main
Street across from the train station, is now under new ownership. The new owner is as generous as she is
talented, as shown by the beautiful wreath donated for the annual VFW Memorial Day celebration. Their
seasonal window displays are also a highlight not to be missed.
This past year, the Village was jam-packed with events, including the annual Brewster Fall Festival,
National Night Out at Wells Park and the Holiday Tree Lighting. We also held several new events,
including the Grin ‘N’ Bear It 5K, which raised funds for Brewster Teachers’
Association scholarships, and the Village of Brewster Police Department hosted its first annual Hot
Chocolate with Santa. We saw lots of activity in Wells Park, where the Brewster Little League created
two T-ball fields as it continues to grow. Although we missed the Little League parade this year due to
the weather, we eagerly await the 2026 season.
The Village of Brewster Trustees are committed to ensuring that our corner of Putnam County continues
to thrive and becomes a place everyone wants to be. The Board’s efforts have not gone unnoticed;
despite the often thankless nature of public service, I wish to express my appreciation to the Board and
to the community that elected them.

Five Brewster Members Honored for Achievement
The Brewster Chamber of Commerce honored five of its Distinguished Members at its Annual Awards Dinner
held on October 22, 2025 at Brewster’s scenic Lakeview Manor.
The awards were presented to Nancy Teague, CEO/Founder of Putnam Service Dogs- Business Person of the
Year; Kate Corsitto, Sr. Development Manager of the American Cancer Society – Community Leader;
Christine Zito, Owner of Tapped Hudson – Rising Professional; George Apap Painting – Legacy
Business; and DC Hair Studio & Spa – Customer Favorite.
The Brewster Chamber Business Awards celebrate the dedication and success of our members. Each year, we
open nominations to the entire community, allowing members and residents alike to highlight their
favorite local Brewster Chamber businesses. While our Board of Directors selects most winners based on
these nominations, the Customer Favorite Award — introduced in 2025 — is unique. This
specific honor is determined entirely by a public vote, ensuring our community’s voice is heard
loud and clear.
The Brewster Chamber of Commerce has been championing local business and community growth since 1957. As a non-profit organization with 160 members, we strive to enrich the industrial and economic landscape of Brewster and Southeast. We offer a variety of ways to connect and grow, including regular networking events, ribbon cuttings and professional seminars. Members gain high visibility through our online directory at BrewsterChamber.com, which also appears in our annual Community Guide. Beyond business, we remain deeply committed to our students through our annual Scholarship program.

2025 Business Person of the Year
Nancy Teague, Putnam Service Dogs
The Brewster Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce Nancy Teague, Founder and CEO of Putnam
Service Dogs, as the 2025 Business Person of the Year. This selection marks a historic
milestone for the Chamber, as it is the first time a non-profit professional has received this
prestigious honor.
Nancy’s journey to this award is a testament to her extraordinary business acumen and a life
dedicated to constant growth. A graduate of the University of Michigan with a BBA and a Master’s
in Hospital Administration, Nancy’s career has been nothing short of multi-faceted. From building
one of Seattle’s largest art galleries at age 25 to navigating the high-stakes NYC real estate
market as one of Corcoran’s first 250 employees, she has consistently demonstrated the leadership
skills necessary to build organizations from the ground up.
After moving to Putnam County in 2011, Nancy channeled her professional expertise and her passion for
service into founding Putnam Service Dogs in 2016. Her inspiration grew from her time raising pups for
Guiding Eyes for the Blind, where she discovered the profound impact a well-trained dog can have on a
person’s life.
Under her guidance, Putnam Service Dogs provides free service dogs to veterans with PTSD and individuals with physical disabilities. By treating her non-profit with the same strategic rigor as a commercial enterprise, Nancy has created a vital community pillar. Putnam Service Dogs invites you to celebrate Nancy’s achievements at their upcoming gala on June 18, 2026, which is also the 10th anniversary of the organization. www.PutnamServiceDogs.org

Kate Corsitto
The Brewster Chamber of Commerce is proud to honor Chamber Board President Kate
Corsitto, with the 2025 Community Leader Award. Kate demonstrates what it means to lead with passion,
creativity and a deep-rooted commitment to service.
As a non-profit professional with six years of experience at the American Cancer Society, Kate serves
as the Senior Development Manager for the Lower Hudson Valley. She recruits, trains and
collaborates with local volunteers to create impactful community events. These experiences provide vital
awareness and support for the ACS mission to improve the lives of cancer patients and their families
through advocacy, research and patient care.
Kate’s “community-first” mindset started long before her professional journey.
Inspired by her father, who was a constant fixture as a coach and volunteer, she learned early on that
“we” is always larger than “me.”
Her proudest community connection came when she joined the Brewster Chamber of Commerce and the committee for the Relay For Life of Brewster. She became the Event Chair and from there her passion ignited in a way that keeps shining brighter and brighter each year.
Rising Professional
Christina Zito
As the owner of Tapped Hudson, Brewster resident Christina Zito has emerged as a
standout in the Hudson Valley business scene, blending an entrepreneurial spirit with a passion for
community building.
Christina transformed a personal passion into a thriving mobile bar service. Her restored 1949 Ford
panel truck creates a unique atmosphere at regional events, fostering genuine human connection.
Beyond her mobile bar, she founded Tapped In Networking and hosts Beer
N’ Books events, offering creatives a relaxed environment to cultivate partnerships.
“The collaborations that come from simply showing up are what drive me,” says Christina.
Recently elected to the Brewster Chamber Board of Directors, she also serves as Chair of the Events Committee. The Chamber celebrates Christina for her business success and unwavering community commitment.
Legacy Business
Apap Painting & Renovations
There’s something undeniably special about a small business that’s stood the test of time.
These locally rooted businesses are cornerstones of their communities. In tight-knit communities, the
relationship between small businesses and the people they serve runs deep. That is why Apap
Painting & Renovations was chosen by Brewster Chamber as the Legacy Business of 2025.
It began when Charles Apap came to the U.S. from Malta as a painter’s apprentice. In 1929, he
established his business in Manhattan, then relocated to Putnam County. His son, George Sr., took the
helm in 1962, expanding the operations into other counties. In 2004, George and Steve and his sons
assumed leadership and broadened the business. Today, many fourth-generation family members have worked
in the family business.
“The key to our success is our people,” says George Apap. “We invest in them through training, safety programs and genuine appreciation. This creates a shared commitment to the success of our business. Because our staff is happy and invested, the quality of their work reflects it. Our amazing customer service and old world craftsmanship create raving, lifetime fans.“ In 2026 George Apap Painting changed their company name to Apap Painting & Renovations to reflect the full scope of services that they provide.

DC Hair Studio & Spa
In July 2020, while the world was retreating behind closed doors, Danielle Cavalier was opening them.
Launching a new business in a global pandemic was a gamble, but for Cavalier, it was the start of a
remarkable journey.
Cavalier had been honing her craft in the hair industry since the age of 15. During those uncertain
early months, she prioritized community over profit. While navigating strict protocols, she offered free
services to first responders. That dedication didn’t go unnoticed; over the next four years, she
amassed a fiercely loyal following.
In 2025, she expanded her brand and relocated to Clock Tower Commons. The newly rebranded DC
Hair Studio & Spa has evolved into a full-service sanctuary, offering everything from expert
hair artistry and massage therapy to professional nail and esthetic services.
Thanks to an overwhelming wave of support from the clients, DC Hair Studio & Spa has officially been named the winner of the 2025 Brewster Chamber Customer Favorite award. Cavalier’s story is a masterclass in resilience — proving that even in the toughest times, passion and service never go out of style.

Commemorating History:
Putnam County’s REV250 Celebrations
As we approach the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, the Town of Southeast
and the Village of Brewster are joining all of Putnam County in a
momentous celebration of our national heritage. This milestone, known as REV250, offers
a unique opportunity to reflect on the local bravery and diverse stories that shaped our country’s
founding.
One of the most compelling local chapters of this history can be found right at Tonetta
Lake. Many residents enjoy the beauty of the lake today, but few realize its name honors
Tone, a man who was enslaved and later gained his freedom through courageous service in
the Continental Army. Following the war, Tone and his wife, Etta,
settled by the water’s edge. Together, they operated a tavern for local fishermen and rented
boats, weaving their legacy into the very fabric of Southeast.
Beyond individual stories, our region served as a critical corridor for troop movements and
intelligence. Throughout the REV250 commemorations, the community will host a variety
of immersive experiences, including living history demonstrations and guided tours of colonial-era
landmarks. These events are designed to bring the 18th century to life, illustrating the daily
sacrifices made by local families. By walking the same paths as the soldiers and citizens of the 1770s,
we gain a deeper appreciation for the resilience that defines our local spirit.
To help residents and visitors explore these rich narratives, Putnam County Tourism
has launched a dedicated REV250 resource page. This site serves as a central hub for finding historical
sites, upcoming reenactments and educational events throughout the region. Whether you are a lifelong
resident or a first-time visitor, we invite you to dive into the stories of those who, like Tone and
Etta, helped build the community we call home today.

Southeast Museum Celebrates Rev250 Events
In order to prepare for the upcoming 250th birthday of our nation, Southeast Museum will be hosting
events to celebrate Putnam County’s contributions to this important milestone in our
nation’s history.
The museum will host several traveling exhibits to celebrate Rev250 including the General Israel Putnam
exhibit currently on display at the Putnam History Museum, the Nicholas Fish exhibit currently on
display at the Desmond Fish Library, a staged dramatic reading of the play DIRT (which explores the
founding of Putnam County), and a book signing event by acclaimed historical fiction author Allison
Pataki, daughter of former Governor George Pataki, who co- chairs the Putnam County Rev250 Committee.
Southeast Museum’s premiere event will feature the work of artist Jean Leon Gerome Ferris, whose
original paintings are currently on loan to the museum from the collection of the Ryder Family of Starr
Ridge Road in Brewster. Ferris’ work may be recognized by those of us who grew up with social
studies textbooks, as he has portrayed such watershed moments in our nation’s history such as the
Mayflower Compact, the Declaration of Independence and the Gettysburg Address. This exhibit, in
collaboration with the Brewster Chamber of Commerce, and sponsored by George Whipple, Community
Foundations and the M&T Bank, will open on March 18, 2026.

It was previously known as Merritt Park and consisted of around 600 acres. Explore this 5.7-mile loop trail near Patterson, New York. Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 3 hours and 7 minutes to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking, snowshoeing and running.
