Sports City, U.S.A.
Frisco fans have much to cheer for
Home to seven professional teams, Frisco has earned its moniker, Sports City, U.S.A. The Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Rattlers, Dallas Stars, FC Dallas, Frisco RoughRiders, Texas Legends, and Texas Revolution call Frisco home. With the addition of the Dallas Cowboys in 2016, Frisco became the only city in the U.S. to be home to one team from each of the five major sports leagues (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and MLS).
Along with the seven professional sports teams, Frisco also features multiple world-class athletic facilities, prestigious medical and sports rehabilitation centers, national and international athletic organizations, and an emerging eSports community. These elements, combined with the vision of city leaders, have allowed the second fastest-growing city in the U.S. to establish a premium quality of life for its residents, corporations, and visitors.
Along with being sports-friendly, Frisco is great for business. The city’s vision continues to lead to growth, development, and revitalization. Sports tourism means business for the city resulting in an economic impact in the millions.
“Frisco’s vision and its leaders’ commitment to sticking to that vision, have turned Frisco into one of the most vibrant communities in the U.S.,” said Stephen Jones, executive vice president, chief operating officer and director of player personnel for the Dallas Cowboys.
“Sports is a way of life for many of our residents and visitors alike who value health and fitness, relish competing themselves or just enjoy being a fan,” said Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney. “Our sports-centric climate is contributing to an emerging industry in Frisco, dedicated to sports research, development, treatment, and injury prevention. Here, sports provides both entertainment and economic development.”

“This year, we’re innovating our fan experience through our partnership with Raytheon,” said Farmer. “We have a section of the concourse called Tech Sideline where kids can learn about STEM initiatives in basketball in a fun, interactive way.”
Last season, the Texas Legends had another franchise record when five players were called up to the NBA and two players joined Team USA. Since moving to town, the Rattlers have put an emphasis on growing the game of lacrosse by putting sticks in the hands of more people. One way the Rattlers did this was by hosting four free clinics in one day all over the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. The event introduced lacrosse to nearly 100 kids who had never played the game. The Rattlers continue to expand the sport with tournaments and a youth league designed specifically to bring lacrosse to new players and to sharpen the skills of more experienced athletes.
“We are so excited to be a part of this community and to not only grow lacrosse and our brand but to grow with Frisco,” said Bill Goren, president of the Dallas Rattlers. “Our games are from May to September but we want to be an integral part of this community year round.”
The Texas Revolution is a professional indoor football team, playing in Champions Indoor Football. In 2018, the Revolution joined Frisco’s Sports City, U.S.A. community..
